I am wanting to make a redemption booking in my daughters name. She will be changing to her married name in March, I want to make the booking now to fly in December 2019. If I make it under her current Krisflyer number (has no points or activity) I have to use her maiden name and pay a change of name fee later. Would there be a problem with creating a new membership under her married name and booking in this name?
To further complicate, I have too many nominees and would need to pool to her velocity account which will be in her maiden name and Krisflyer will have to match.
Perhaps I could pool to my husband’s account and add her as a nominee there under her married name, which might be the easiest option.
Any thoughts?

I would counsel your daughter against changing her name. Many married couples now use their birth surnames with no ill effect. Changing names adds complications - as you are discovering - that can be lifelong. Then, if for whatever reason, the name needs to change again or revert back, it adds even more to the complication. Women can use a married name in social situations and retain their birth name for legal purposes quite happily. But YMMV.

I had a SQ flight booked last year in my wife's married name but her country of birth couldn't organise her name change and new passport in time. Fortunately SQ changed the revenue ticket back to her maiden name without charge. I was very thankful for this. In their communication with me they stated that they allow a change of name at no charge due to marriage. Your circumstances are somewhat different though. Good luck.

Irrespective of the account name it's made under, it will have to be the same as the name in the passport that's going to be used. Establish that then work back.
