Qantas Points Hacks Facebook Group

I think its just another channel to market their points regime and using 'hacks' to suggest some kind of allure of advantage/benefit. Not sure there is necessarily any trap.

The page hasn't been verified as belonging to Qantas. Don't let the phone number fool you, this page is bogus. Pages like these are created to attract interest, but are ultimately sold on once the membership is large enough and is then used to market anything from cat-poop scoopers to dodgy travel gadgets - with frequent 'inspirational' repostings from Facebook's other big sham-man, David Wolfe. If you want your facebook filled with slightly over-acted and badly produced videos of hipsters using gadgets while saying 'wow'. Join this page. Otherwise... you're in for some real heartbreak.

Oh, and avoid like the plague the QANTAS QFF POINT HACKS page. It is wall to wall American Express card advertising, with links to application pages I wouldn't trust

I'd be far more interested in the visitor posts(that aren't moderated out) of bleating fools .. could be potentially entertaining :D

(less so any idiots commenting about the various sweet spots out there.. as few as they are these days)

That's right, there is AFF for [commenting] gloating about various sweet spots until they get killed. But the following up crying thread is always amusing

This is could be Qantas trying to get people to reveal or spill details that previously they would only reveal in other private groups about loopholes, and then patching them. Sure, they can infiltrate a group, but it's easier to control the flow of information.

Odd name though.....

Considering there is an Australian business called Point Hacks, or some other reason?

The page hasn't been verified as belonging to Qantas.

But the creator of the group* (and listed admin) is the verified Qantas page? I guess it could be fake if the officially verified Qantas page was hacked and the hacker then created the group. That doesn't seem likely though.

And it was promoted by the official verified Qantas Facebook page in the first place; the post is still there.

Having said that, I have no intention of answering questions on there about my status.

All the Qantas points pages I have foun aren’t showing they are verified, except the Qantas page itself. You all must be seeing seeing another page that i’m not (don’t post links please). But I am seeing Handful of shonky pages. Some showing themselves with the qantas phone number and other contact details.

I think the point being made is that this page was created by the verified Qantas page - see red arrow below

Clearly a QF page. It's being pushed in FB ads in my feed *from* the official QF account/page (verified button as above).

Either way it's just another marketing tool. I think they are trying to be "hip" and target those who live on social media land. "ooh a point hacks" group squees the millenial over their smashed avo brekky "Yeah that's cool man I'll join that as soon as I've had my crafted soy latte"

As for the idea of QF trying to "skim" the "good stuff shared in other private forums" - what like AFF? Anyone who thinks anything shared in forums like this is not being read by QF people are naive in the extreme.

This is just another lame cough marketing tool controled by the company trying to spin toasters and points+pay and headphone sales as being "hacks"

anyway to those who have joined.. enjoyed and I look forward to reports on exactly what the content is.

I think points pirate is on the money - the word 'hack' assumes some sort of insider special information - which is likely to be a toaster on sale.

To date Qantas hasn't really offered anything advantageous (except perhaps QF wine bonus offers). Qantas health, Qantas cash, Qantas store... just a few examples of where they are milking profits out of people. I don't think this will be any different.

I personally don't trust it. No way I would comment on any company initiated "Hacks" page. Im happy to share amongst private small circle groups however, anyone that shares decent SC earn trips on this site is either gloating or has no idea because guaranteed the decent deal will be dead within hours of being posted

There is the similarity to that name, but also just using Hacks. Why not just call it the Qantas Points group? Maybe there is a reason I didn't go into marketing :)

In Facebook land it is a Group, not a Page. A group cannot at this point be verified.

If you go to the verified Page, you will find a link to Visit Group, which takes you to the group linked to the page.

Just like blogger pages that are created and give the impression of providing 'exclusive' news.

Except we're talking about a facebook Group not a page. In this case the GROUP was created by the validated Qantas Page.
