This morning in my Facebook feed there was a suggested group "Qantas Points Hacks" only 190 members so far, that promises to have "exclusive offers to earn and burn Qantas points", its a closed group you have to apply to join.

Anyone else joined?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Qantas have advertised in on their facebook page as well. but the link doesnt exist. Thanks for the extra info to know what was involved.

probably just a way for qantas to control the good deals...

You can probably search for the group then apply - as part fo the application they want to know if you are a QFF, what you hope to get from being in the group.

I'd say AFF is a better resource than what would be posted in there. I imagine the "hacks" are the same things posted here and on Flyertalk, which then get disseminated to things like PointHacks and ABT.

I suppose I'd want to know what "exclusive" techniques they offer that wouldn't already be covered.

That was largely my thoughts too, but I figured it couldn't hurt to join just in case there was something truly exclusive offer wise.

Suspect it largely just another a way to promote offers like DSC or store discounts which we already get emailed about.

Yeah a "points hacks" group run by the airline. Uh... no thanks. Pass.

Most of the posts appear to be posted by the admin which is named "Qantas frequent flyer"

And has Qantas phone numbers listed in the about section.

I'd say if it's not run by Qantas it will be closed fairly soon

I’d be very cautious about that group. Just because it’s calls itself what it does, plus adds genuine phone numbers does not make it legitimate.

QFF have a database full of email addresses and a website. If they wanted us to know new tips and tricks I think they’d leverage that before starting another communication channel. QFF have no need to establish some kind of exclusive invitation only facebook group.

If the Group Admin starts asking for personal details, like QFF numbers, on the pretence of trying to solve a problem on behalf of a member then I’d be running a mile from it and reporting it as a potential scam.

I understand completely. Thanks though.

I was just curious about the group.
I'm just curious as to what it is and never hand over information to unknown sources.

If anything looks out of place I'll report back.

Given the official QF facebook account is advertising this group it's a corporate marketing creation. Doesn't mean I would trust it any more than if it wasn't, but I would trust it to be just as inane as the P1 Briefing/WP Newsletter offering little of value to those who already care about these things.

I'd be far more interested in the visitor posts(that aren't moderated out) of bleating fools .. could be potentially entertaining :D

(less so any idiots commenting about the various sweet spots out there.. as few as they are these days)

I would imagine that it is a private individual wanting people to believe that is actually Qantas.

Organisation do not "hacks" .themselves

Any deals they will skim commission or gain advertising income etc for in one form or another. Just as Point Hacks and all the other sites do. Sometimes this can be to your advantage, but equally they do not always have the best deal, but rather their(commission) deal and so you will forego the best deal unless you look around.

It's most definitely a group created by Qantas. Facebook lists the group administrator, and it's definitely the real, verified Qantas Facebook page.

I don't think Qantas have an issue with people finding good deals to acquire points from third parties. After all, they're being paid for them.

Certainly looks real.

I think it's an attempt to muscle in on the HFC and FFA space.

Well, I've joined and we'll see what it offers (not their much at the moment).
Not sure it's really muscling in on either of those groups, unless they start a lounge guesting service :)

Odd name though.....

Maybe the new point hacks group will be the first to hear the new Qantas "enhancements".
