Confused about classic reward pricing - pricing difference between app and website

I am pretty sure it is answered somewhere but couldn't find the answer, so thought its easier just to post a new question.

I am looking to go to Kingscote (Kangaroo Island) from Sydney, which involves a direct flight to Adelaide then Qantaslink to Kingscote.

When I looked up the price on the full Qantas website it is showing 12k points one way, whether as if I look at the app it is showing 20k point one way.

I think the full website is pricing by adding the two Qantas flight together and assess the total distance against the chart, whether as the app is taking each segment (12k for SYD-ADL and 8k for ADL-KGC) and adding it together.

Should the number be 12k or 20k for this flight? I normally only redeem direct flight so a bit baffled on this.

Book the 12K!

SYD-ADL-KGC is 801 miles, which is a band 2 award which is 12K.

If you were to introduce a stopover in ADL it would be priced as two separate sectors.

so is it correct to say if it is SYD-xADL-KGC then it should be priced as 12k? That is, it should be 12k if I am connecting however if i stopover for more than 24 hours then each segment will price individually.
