Sadly NO!!!!!
I had to go to Townsville and Mackay for a business trip this week. Townsville, although on the small side, met my expectation of what should be available in the Qantas Lounge (simply things like toilets for instance, but also showers, an actual bar with choices in spirits, wine and beer, a range of hot and cold food options). But i arrived at the Mackay airport after my days work hoping to relax with a drink in the lounge, I was shocked to discover the offering that is the Mackay Qantas Lounge. The bar, and lets use that term in its loosest form, was self serve. I certainly don't have a problem with this. Most wines are self serve in all of Qantas' lounges and internationally, it is common to also self serve spirits, but the Mackay Lounge was a fridge with one shiraz, one pinot gris (the individual mini-bottles you get on Qantas flights) and one beer (Ironjack). It also had coke, lemonade, some juices tea/coffee and water. The food also consisted of cheese and crackers, chips, pre-cut sandwiches (in the fridge) and some lollies. After an hour, I needed to go to the toilet, but I couldn't see where they were. When I asked the attendant, I was told there aren't any and I would have to exit the Lounge and use the airport facilities. It left me feeling quite annoyed. We pay a lot of money for Qantas Club membership, and the Mackay offering just doesn't cut the mustard. I am just thankful I don't live in Mackay and aren't subject to it more often. Talking to some friends about it, they said the Rockhampton Lounge is the same.
