Cheapest way into the SYD T1 F lounge as a guest?

It might just be me, but I think it shows a complete lack of integrity to even consider doing something like that.

Sure, you can deal with the inconvenience of not having your money for 8 weeks, but perhaps for a second consider the inconvenience you cause in doing it.

Personally, I think anyone who would consider doing it is a bit of a loser, but far be it from me to pass judgement on someone who obviously has far too much time on their hands.

As Anna so rightly put it, its a public transport waiting area...who really cares?! Go and find some other way to fulfil your need to feel important for 5 mins.

Maybe you could actually do some travel, perhaps book on JQ35, JQ29 (SYD-MEL) for $81 .... and a return for with the current sale.

That's the cost of not much more than a a fine and expensive restaurant with fine and expensive beverages ...

Is it really that important that you get into the First lounge? Its 1 thing to be flying that day and ask one of the guys here to guest you in. But to go out of your way to sample some breakfast?

That would not get him into the FLounge unless he has OneWorld Emerald status in his own right. As a guest of another passenger, he need to be travelling on the same flight.

I have not been to the Singapore airlines Flounge at SYD, I have been to the QFlounge and its great. That being said I would consider doing this to get into either lounge a complete and utter waste of time. I can get a good eggs Benedict in Balmain or Fitzroy or St Kilda for 100% less hassle and less than $20.

Get a grip. Its a lounge not the restaurant at the end of the universe!

The cheapest legitimate and morally OK way into SYD T1 F lounge would be to befriend a Platinum and book a domestic leg of an international flight for the Platinum AND yourself and both fly on it??

Oih this is Australian Frequent Flyer website after all, I guess some of us enjoy the flying and the lounging around part. If not what are you doing here then.

So it might sound a bit strange to some people.

Each of us has different interests; I rely on people buying the latest gadget for their boat to keep myself in business. I have heard comments why would you buy a boat that sits in the water and you have to look after it.

Myself and 18 others did a round trip between Brisbane and Sydney just to go and visit the First Lounge in February, and I am flying to Melbourne via Sydney in August just to try and do it all again.

The first few times the interest might be there but to those that have done it a few times, they wonder what all the fuss is about.

Why would any one want to start a trip from Sri Lanka that has its ending in New York. :shock:

Firstly I agree this is a Frequent Flyer forum that has drawn an array of people from differing backgrounds with the interest in flying frequently.

Secondly, yes, different people have different interests. For your information, I have a big and ulgly yellow poly cc with all the bells and whistles.

But my comment still stands. Trying to get into the Flounge when you are not flying just so you can sample the eggs is mad.

This is very different to say:

1. Visiting all the lounges at NRT after seeing Tokyo in all its Cherry Blossom splendour

2. Selecting routings on LONE4s that criss crosses a continent to earn more points

3. Activiely chosing flights that give me the best upgrade/op up opportunity

If I wanted eggs to see off a friend, I would take them down to my local and have eggs and champers.

The discussion and comments aren't as much to do with how nice it would be to be in the F Lounge, I don't think anyone here would reject an opportunity to sample it, but it's more the way the poster is attempting to do so.

To inconvenience any number of people who I'm sure have quite enough work each day without pointy headed idiot trying to cheat their way through into the lounge completely lacks integrity and regard for anyone but themselves.

I have no problem with someone legitimately enjoying the lounge, but do it properly if you're going to do it.

I think a smiliar comparison you could make is going into a restaurant off the street to use the bathroom. No restaurant manager would tolarate it.

The restaurant toilets (F lounge with eggs benedict) are for paying customers (F passengers/WP). Sure you could sneak in while the waiters are not looking (check-in) and run out of the restaurant after (get a refund on your ticket), but that's just not cricket. Then you have to worry about the restaurant blacklisting you (worry about immigration).

I disagree, a similar comparison would be walking into that restaurant, ordering yourself a couple of mains, eating part of it, using the toilet, then falsely complaining about a hair in your food and demanding a full refund...thats more like it!!

As to your question of what you could be charged with - fraud, false pretences or "attempt to obtain benefit by deception" might be for starters.

not that I disagree with you or think that this is a good idea. But these charges are just over the top.

If I was to have a brain fade and try to do this, I would simply explain that I changed my mind I don't want to go now. That's a reason and anyone who tried to make you fly against your will would be charged with false imprisonment or something.

With this reason above there is no suggestion of deception, fraud or false pretences.

There is also the fact that customs and immigration are not responsible for enforcing these laws. They are not going to charge you with an offence if it is beyond their power.
