Your status also means diddly squat. The status to have is the one you cannot earn, namely CL. Kind of like royal titles.... just because you buy a square foot of some derelict scotish castle does not make you a HRH.

I wouldn't compare CL membership to being a member of the royal family, the royal family don't use airport lounges very often except occasional true VIP lounges, also buying a derelict Scottish castle can only make you a Laird or maybe a Baron of X (but still not a peer) at best, best check in with Lyon Court before you pull the trigger as titles aren't always attached to the property.

So you took it out on lounge staff, that likely that had nothing to do with causing your problems?
Enough to be barred? I've raised my voice when I can see they've stuffed up and refused to do anything about it. You can't deal calmly with someone who does not acknowledge they've stuffed up.

It doesn't just happen. I refuse to move on. Make it unhappen. Very simple.

It really isn't much fun being moved from one's chosen seat. I don't fly nearly as much as some on here think they fly but I get annoyed when it happens to me. Most recently I was dumped from row one in Club Europe to row six for no apparent reason and the plane flew with my carefully selected seat empty. (For those than know BA's Club Europe row 1 is the only row worth anything, the exit rows in Y are better than the rest of CE.)

Of course the airline will point out that seat selection is not guaranteed but the OP is correct; airlines are quick to sell the benefits of status and weasel out of delivering benefits when it suits their needs. I have, however, never been under the illusion that airlines are in any way shape or form loyal to frequent flyers, and in turn I am most certainly not loyal to any airline. I aim to maximise the benefits and walk away when those benefits are no longer worth my while.

if you want a home truth, half the people on here are either lying or over exaggerating their status.

...

Whilst Adelaide has some wealthy people, no major company that would warrant so much travel is based there ...
You would be surprised!

I happen to know a person who is a member of this forum and run's their own company. They reside in Adelaide but have permanent accommodation in Melbourne with a frequent commute between the cities as well as Asia. They are indeed both Qantas Platinum One and Velocity Platinum, gaining such with SC maximisation strategies appropriately applied.

For example, elsewhere in this forum there is information alluding to how to earn half of the Qantas Platinum SC's re-qualification requirement for under $1500 with about a dozen flights. I myself have done that this year.

And, yes, with such strategy, I am both Qantas and Velocity Platinum having gained Qantas Life time Gold a decade ago.

Same here I am also VA Platinum now but have not taken one flight to get it.

OP, no point has been missed because there isn’t any. The argument you are presenting doesn’t really have any substance, and frankly isn’t really credible (i.e you suggest you take responsibility for your actions but your next sentence blames QF for your actions).

You are just ranting now, time to move on and ditch the handcuffs as you say

I "was" WP. Having flown QF a big fat ZERO times in my last membership year, I've defaulted back to lifetime gold.

its rather ironic how you're chastising me for a seemingly false sense of entitlement and yet here you are you boasting about holding the highest status in every airline alliance going. like that is supposed to somehow validate your opinions as if they were fact?
and quit with the self deprecating "im just a novice traveller" BS........
if you want a home truth, half the people on here are either lying or over exaggerating their status. I know how much I flew when earning between 2000-2400 credits per year and how hard/time consuming it was. for you to earn all the status's you claim to have, you'd pretty much live on planes and have no time for work or family and definitely no time to be trawling a puerile internet forum. also... if you were as important as you claim to be, either you or your employer would be flying you on a private jet and not on commercial airlines..... but sure.... you go and keep earning your status's "year on year" and keep thinking that makes you a better and more important person.
Your status also means diddly squat. The status to have is the one you cannot earn, namely CL. Kind of like royal titles.... just because you buy a square foot of some derelict scotish castle does not make you a HRH.
Whilst Adelaide has some wealthy people, no major company that would warrant so much travel is based there, and the people who are truly wealthy, like the Gerard's, have a private jet and dont waste their very precious and valuable time on internet forums. unless of course you're using wifi half way across the pacific in a First class cabin that has been fully booked by you (or your employer) so as to not be disturbed by former WP riff riff such as myself.

...
Ok. I agreed with some of your points earlier but this post has gone way way too far. And now, this is a “puerile Internet forum” yet here you are, posting on it.

Also, I suggest you do not question Matt_01’s flying patterns. That comment really shows how out of touch you are with the threads on this forum. Nor should you comment on big business in SA. There are some very wealthy, actually in the ilk of Pretty Woman, obscenely wealthy, private companies here that would not even be publically known outside of SA. And even our small family business based in Adelaide has three WP directors who travel mainly on Y flights within Australia. Do the maths. And two LTG.

Sorry off topic but maybe you could get them to invest in a new Northern Coal Power station in SA and fix the baseload electricity problems/power prices that renewables are falling well short of providing

my response to the seat reassignment was simply that I refused to travel in the reassigned seat. I made it clear I had a valid seat selection, and if they couldn't provide me with a reason as to why it was taken away, then I expect to be in that seat. Had they said it was broken, or there was a wheelchair passenger that needed it, or it was a bassinet seat (which it was not) I would been totally fine with that.

I don't think you would have...

Just don’t go there. We are slowly reversing bad decisions made with apparent good intent. I’m being charitable today.

When did this happen because, Dude, you sound like a disgruntled ex that just needs to let it go. Move on, she (QF) is living her life fine without you, time you did the same with Thai, VA, SQ ect and stop obsessing about how unhappy the ex made you.
