I am pretty sure "ebay.au" is subject to the Australian Consumer Code (ACC Act). However, eBay has, or will, changed the place of contract for all non-USA members to Switzerland.

If potential buyers can retract a bid (typo error etc), than why not allow sellers to retract a sale if they made an error in the listing?
They do allow you to pull an item for sale midstream if you make an error.

What happened here was that eBay does not allow a reserved price anymore so if the bids fail to meet the lowest price you are prepared to sell it for then you are screwed. And that is what I think happened with Renato. In fact eBay encourages sellers to start with a 99c starting price even for things like IPads, it’s in the seller screens as ‘advice to sellers’. They just want traffic and a sale and don’t give a toss about the seller. I hate them. I always regret using them unless I’m a buyer.

Yes, I think so.
I noticed recently a seller withdrew several items even after a few bids were accepted because the description did not reflect the photos.
All items were then listed with the correct photos.

Yes. I did exactly that in April.

A seller can always set a minimum bid that he or she is happy with, or encourage people into the auction with the 99 cent which attracts more sellers and hopefully a higher price - which sometimes then leads to the opposite problem, where over enthusiastic bidders decide they no longer want to pay for their items.

A friend of mine who sells heaps of new stuff on Ebay said to me that to Ebay has indicated that selling second hand stuff is a legacy item that they are stuck with for now, and aren't very interested in anymore. They would rather just have sellers selling new stuff.
Cheers,
Renato

Yes. A minimum bid but that is like selling a house for the first price the auctioneer says. That isn’t the price the vendor really wants. Just a starter. Without a reserve price the Ebay system sucks. I’m never selling on eBay again having just received a ridiculously excessive invoice for the item that sold for a price I wasn’t happy with. I’m certainly not interested in Ebay anymore as a seller. Ebay are stuck with it? Hells Bells, it was that market that got them started.
