Did a new aerosols in HLO come into effect in the last week ?? I just spoke with Ron who is at DPO awaiting his first flight home, and security at DPO is confiscating ALL aerosols !! I flew out of there last week, it wasn't happening then. I cant see anything on AFF about it when I searched aerosols !

Not sure but my aerosol was taken in Adelaide a few weeks ago. Something about not being able to X-ray them. I mentioned it here.

I dont pack aerosols, never had.

I often wondered about women with all their hair products and do they pack hair mouse/spray ect. Even insect repellent. Ive always bought on arrival at new place.

Normally aerosols are fine, you just have to put them in the tray for screening...

Devonport Tassie gone rouge?

We will find out tonight when Ron gets home ! But in my last two trips through DPO in the last 6 weeks, there are 5 officers manning the security area, and I have been wanded, and explosives tested both times. The first time I sat and watched as I had plenty of time on my hands and they explosive tested everyone  !!

Yep, did that and it was removed. As much as you can with security people I asked why. Which was when he replied it couldnt be Xrayed. My first time with aerosols too.

Pretty sure I followed someone through security last Monday in ADL who had an aerosol deodorant that was allowed.

So on 23/3 we went through DPO and both only carryon.Mrsdrron's aerosol was put in a tray and everything was fine.
Same staff on this morning and several people were having their aerosols confiscated. One woman was getting confused with International security constantly saying but it's only 60 ml.

I must have been psychic. At the last minute put my aerosol in my checked bag.

Aerosol (dry shampoo) through BNE and CBR in hand luggage on the tray was fine over the weekend. Please don't ban them everywhere, I need my dry shampoo and hair spray!

So with this information and in particular the information quoted below, why the confiscations?

Domestic flights
Flights within Australia are not subject to restrictions on how much liquid, aerosols and gels you can carry onboard.

However, if you are travelling domestically, but departing from an international terminal (for example, Terminal 1 in Sydney or Terminal 2 in Melbourne—your boarding ticket will confirm if you are departing from an international terminal), you are subject to liquid, aerosol and gel restrictions.

In particular, all aerosol containers must have a fitted cap, or locking device.

Yes one woman did quote what was on the QF website about being allowed if a lid.Still lost it.
The odd thing is the fellow who was ordering the confiscations was the same fellow that allowed mrsdrron's aerosol through 9 days previously.
Obviously didn't get enough Easter eggs.

Security must have been running out of aerosols they steal from people.
