Just a heads up, QF are about to release another fare increase this afternoon ranging from 1-4% on most routes, with the majority being 4%.

Will post more info once it comes to hand.

Announcement - Qantas Fare Increase
19 June 2008
In response to continuing high oil and fuel costs, Qantas has further reviewed its fares and will be increasing some fares across its International and Domestic networks.

Domestic and International fares on some routes will increase by up to 4% for tickets issued in Australia on / after 26 June 2008.

The increases do not apply to all fares and vary by route.

The new fare levels will progressively be introduced from Friday 20 June, 2008. Please refer to Latest Fare Changes for continued fare updates.

Any booking made, but not ticketed, prior to 26 June 2008 will be affected by the fare increase as the ticket is deemed to be sold after the effective date.

As previously stated, even with our hedging activities, fare increases, surcharges, and what remains a very strong focus on managing costs, we will not cover these higher fuel costs.

We remain committed to offer a wide range of competitive fares across our operations and will also continue to offer sale fares at appropriate times.

Given the current environment, we will continue to review our fares and make further adjustments should they be needed.

I have no issue with them increasing their fares given the rising costs the face. I am very pleased they did not continue increasing the fuel fines. But sad to see the fuel fines remain.

Agreed.

If the ACCC lets them get away with the fuel fines I might consider applying a technology surcharge or a stationary surcharge to my clients flight bookings :mrgreen:

If your clients move will they avoid the surcharge.

Several places I do know do seem to have mysterious amounts attribitable to stationery and postage and the like (my accountant, property manager and the like)

It's rare that I congratulate Qantas, but I am happy that once again they've only increased the base fares - and not tacked on another surcharge.

Like NM says though, "sad to see the fuel fines remain. "
