I am planning a trip to my niece's wedding next April or May in Montreal. I have around 300,000 Qantas points to use towards the trip. Would like to go Business with my wife on a Round World ticket....buy one, use points for the other. Also need to include San Francisco into the stopover points.
All other destinations will be worked out later...maybe Paris, Dubui....etc.

Any advice from the members would be most appreciated on how to approach this ?

Roger. :)

First thing is to book the award flights now, if it's not too late already. J awards do get snapped up very rapidly, often the day the become available.

280,000 QFF points

for J awards rtw.

A couple of reference points - J RTW would be roughly $10,000+. When thinking about the availability of award trying unusual routings if you can - say going to the US via asia or flying into SFO rather than LAX
You are just barely on the cusp of when seats might be available.

There is one other option... the QF program is changing in July to include "anytime awards" but at a much higher price. If you just want to get the US for example and there are no awards available now - you migth be able to get an antime award just to get to teh US and then pay for other flights.

Like serfty says though - I would be calling right now for your best chance at a RTW award - and I mean today!

1. Make sure the niece has a confirmed wedding date.
2. Start looking now.

140,000 points is enough for 2 RTW in Y.

Qantas website allows you to look at each flight individually so you can build up a itinerary; and if its all in AA, QF and BA and AY you could book it all online. If you can't find any J then you can ring QF and they might have a better chance of looking; keep the options open on dates.

The only reasonable way to Dubai is via London; or via BOMbay which I am not so sure about, and that will require CX.

Can we get a link to the part of the QF website to see the availability on the other OW carriers?
The normal QF award booking engine shows availability for most OW carriers. I think the only issues I am aware of are CX, JL, RJ and LA flights.

Qantas Frequent flier should show you something like this: I only chose economy as I don't have enough points for much more. For same day flights from Brisbane to Montreal; there weren't many days avaialble.

AA shows up easily.
