Yes, its a fare rule. However, it does not apply to upgrades using FF miles/points. It means you cannot pay money to upgrade the fare from say economy to business class on a sector-by-sector basis. The exception is for certain premium economy upgrades which can be applied to an economy fare for a surcharge.Do all one world carriers enforce the no segment upgrade rule on circle and other rtw type products??
that is exactly what I did earlier this week. Upgraded D->F using QF FF points. I have also confirmed upgrades on two AA sectors (NRT-DFW and LAX-LHR) using AAdvantage eVIPs on the same trip. Thanks very much ... so if there was a sector with F , I might be able to upgrade from D using points ??

As an aside .. and maybe worth a new post .. my dcir29sa tickets are on LAN Chile Paper and the add on taxes were very miniscule.
Something about LAN having a special deal with one world that exempts it from fuel surcharges .. might be worth knowing for some.
Well .. the way I did it was to be blissfully ignorant ..
The consolidator did the deed .. told the ta .. who told me ..![]()
