We were on a Luxury Escape at Fairmont Sanur Beach, Bali a couple of weeks ago when, as bad luck would have it, all flights were cancelled because of the volcano erupting. My wife sleeps a lot more than me, and so liked the set-up in our room there where we had two TVs, and I could watch one on the balcony while she slept inside. So we extended our stay by another five days at that hotel, until the next available flight out for us was due to depart.

I claimed the five extra nights plus food from our complimentary credit card Travel Insurance at CBA (which we had activated back in March). Today CBA rang up to advise that our claim had been accepted, and that I would be getting $1763 back - being the cost of the accommodation and meals less the $250 excess.

So thanks yet again to everyone here who gave me wise counsel several years ago when I first joined AFF, that I use the complimentary credit card travel insurance, rather than buying it separately.
Regards,
Renato

Thanks. I was a bit astounded at the outcome myself, expecting there to have been some upper limit I had exceeded (I didn't have the fine print PDS with me in Bali).
