HLO will be a challenge this trip. I am coming from the northern hemisphere winter. But I do have a cunning plan! ;)

Does it involve leaving a bag of cruisewear and finery in ADL before you depart for winter in the north, and then picking it up before embarkation?

Well it is convenient that my mother lives in Adelaide and I will be seeing her before I jet off, and when I return. ;)

Today is the final day to pay the balance of the cruise.
Just don't do what I did and use the American Express when I should have used that new Qantas Platinum card.

I had a look at the shore excursions today. The prices are ridiculous!

I think a few of the Port Lincoln ones are expensive but the KI ones involve a lot of travel and probably infrastructure they just don’t have. A few are sold out. Of course it was the only one I was a bit interested in :(.

I agree. The prices are unbelievable.
I am planning to get a locally provided mini-bus from Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island to the Seal Colony. There were buses waiting at the jetty when I visited KI in December, 2016. They seemed to be taking bookings on the spot. Otherwise, there was a small craft market near the jetty and it is a short stroll to the general store, from memory.
Of course, it is the hope of excellent company which is the main attraction for this cruise. I can't wait to finally meet someone from AFF.

This sounds like a great idea. I’ve only ever visited via the ferry and stayed for a few days. And if the weather is too hot or blech there’s no commitment to go. Seals are rather off limits these days. I remember the days when you were allowed to walk through them. Now - no way.

I know the people who own Boston Bay Winery, so I should go and say hello, but there's always cabs.

Or previously on Qld and WA cruises I have hired a car for the day.

Greeting from Ovation of the Seas currently in Fremantle.

I agree that the Princess Tour prices are stupid as they often are. Organising a group booking with a local company often works. The other options are see what happens on the day and/or stay on the ship. If anyone is planning something we'll probably go along or just stay on board.

We usually like to get off the boat and walk around a little if we're not doing any kind of excursion. So seeing what happens on the day will suit us.
I was on the Bravo! (classical music and opera) cruise on the Radiance of the Seas last month and the shore excursions were approximately one-third of Princess' prices.

Tell 'em they're dreamin'.

I like hearing the Ping noise and all the pfaff associated with tenders. Tragic I know

As I will be on the Sun Princess same dates as this cruise, I am now getting hammered with emails asking me to book shore excursions Bay of Islands. Not going to happen.

I love the 'welcome' from emails. As if we are important :D
Saw that it looks like cars at Pennishaw have already been booked - think I will maybe have a short mooch around, maybe a bit of lunch and then back to ship. I'm an old woman. Too much excitement isn't good for me:p

Perhaps the Oz Day holiday long weekend is a factor?? Just a suggestion.
Princess (along with most other cruise lines) charge like wounded bulls for shore excursions regardless of the day or the location. The only ones I book are in places where it is just too hard to do your own thing, often in locations which where I don't have a clue about the language.:)

Anna and I will be able to translate for you in SA.
