New Amex statement credits

Additional updates for Newsagencies in Brisbane area:

Just tried two places in the Brisbane CBD:

Creek St News (40 Creek St): No go card with AMEX. Was willing to do it with a surcharge after I asked but would not allow splitting the payment to multiple cards.

City News (10 Eagle St): Again usually no go card with AMEX. Was quiet and she agreed to do it with no surcharge and was happy to split payments. $20 on 8 cards, emails received immediately.

A couple of other places around the place:

Winston Glades News (in Ipswich): Do not do go card top ups but do sell go cards for $20 ($10 deposit + $10 credit) but have limited numbers. No AMEX surcharge and was happy to split payment. I took the only 2 adult go cards they had. Received 2 emails immediately.

Middle Park News & Gifts (in Middle Park surprisingly enough): No AMEX surcharge and again happy to split the payment. He was very efficient and I was in and out in 5 minutes. 8 x $20 payments. No emails as yet but it's on the shop small map so not expecting any problems with getting the cash backs.

A few more additions to this list:

Buranda News: Don't sell or top up go cards

Morningside News & Casket: Don't sell or top up go cards

Burstall Avenue News & Casket (in Tingalpa): Said they didn't take AMEX but when I clarified they admitted it was just for go card that they don't take it. I said they were on the AMEX website as taking it. She got the owner who agreed to take it with no surcharge after seeing the Shop Small map. Split payment 8 x $20 with no issue. Emails came through immediately.

Fairfield Gardens Newsagency: Don't sell or top up go cards.

Annerley Newsagency: Don't sell or top up go cards.

Nextra Orion (Springfield): Sell go cards but not on AMEX. I suggested a surcharge and he was happy to do it. 2% surcharge on 8x $20. Was able to pay wave so very quick. Emails received immediately.

Relatively new to this, do online purchases that trigger offers take longer to confirm/process?

All the others I've done are at physical merchants, have an e-mail before I leave the store :)

It varies, but not necessarily. Start to worry if credit hasn't appeared after 5 days. Then it's time to contact AMEX.

Thanks. Must say I want to feel like I have saved money with my AMEX but probably I have just spent more to save more!

Tick tock!

They look like swill, so not going to pull the trigger

Things could improve when some of the banks stop dishing out Amex cards as long as they don’t switch over to an Amex’s own Amex...

Some new offers

H&R Block spend $200 get $40 back
Rebel spend $60 get $15 back
Bob Jane spend $400 get $100 back

Just did opal top up at The Lucky Charm newsagent at Westfield Sydney. We’re very good natured about it 18x and I stepped aside to give priority to others. Paid 2% surcharge which worked out to 40c. While I’m not a fan of surcharges I felt this was a fair bargain ($9.60 profit a pop compared to last year at $2 a pop). Got my confirmation emails for all cards almost instantly.

Got a shop small email for purchase at a pharmac_ not on the map. During last year's promo it was listed and I made a qualifying spend that got a shop small cashback. Maybe it is for all small businesses that accept Amex, whether they are on the map or not?

Was it this store?

I note that the T&Cs state only one transaction per store but some members seem to suggest that it works on multiple occasions at the same store. Am I reading this right?
