New Amex statement credits

In my experience, Best & Less have never previously accepted Amex. However I was at one over the weekend after seeing this offer and can confirm they had overhead signage advertising Amex alongside Visa and MasterCard (and AfterPay).

Things change. Why do you think Best & Less is part of an AMEX promotion to 15,000 people across Australia if they don't take AMEX. Get down to your local store to check rather than relying on your experiences from months or even years ago.

Last Saturday actually.

Things do change even in one day. But if you tried an AMEX in store last Saturday and it was rejected you should contact AMEX immediately. They will still give you the credit. Note you have to have actually tried it rather than just assuming that AMEX was not accepted.

Signs still on both cash regsiters and a small one one each eft-pos terminal.

Add in the fact that I did not see it to activate and no credit due.

From what you have indicated there is no evidence that they do not accept AMEX. There appears to just be a sign. Which may well be old and should have been taken down.

To all others I'd strongly suggest you try your AMEX cards.

UPDATE: I've just been to a different Best Best & Less store in Wollongong. They had signs saying no AMEX. I asked them if they took AMEX and they said they recently started to. As I've indicated previously ignore the signs and give it a try. Some serious money to be made with this current deal.

Re current Best & Less AMEX offer of spend $25 get $15 back. Third party gift cards are available at some Best & Less stores. I have seen cards for Apple, Super Cheap Auto and Greater Union Cinemas. But possibly the best offering is for $50 VISA Only 1 cards.

I purchased 10 of these yesterday and had no problems splitting the payments $25 x 2 for each of these cards. Emails from AMEX have been received for the cash back.

I should also note that the store I visited told me that these types of cards were new to them. They clearly had no idea because they had to get a supervisor to teach them how to encode the card and they failed to charge me the $5.95 purchase fee for each card.

Result for me will be 10 x $50 VISA Only 1 cards purchased for a total of $200. That's a better return than from the Harvey Norman deal! Only wish I had more AMEX cards to take advantage of this offer.

I'd suggest that if you are interested in this offer you act immediately.

I had been in to a B&L near my work the other day after signing up to this offer. They had said they were about to get 3rd party gift cards but didn’t mention the Visas. Fantastic to hear they do.

Just went in to B&L at Riverlink Shopling Centre (Ipswich) and got 4x $50. No issues splitting between 8 cards and they also didn’t know about the $5.95 activation fee so double win.

Tried a B&L, they did not have any 3rd party gift cards. Will try another one tomorrow. Foolishly only signed up two of my cards, that'll teach me!

Even Best & Less's own gift cards aren't such a bad idea if you think you'll use them within the next 12 months. $25 spend for $15 cash back is a good offer however you use it.

Isn't the activation fee included in the gift card price when it scans at checkout?

Normally at places like Woolies and Coles yes. So a $50 card would normally register as $55.95. But Best & Less have failed to set their system up correctly for this to occur (yet).

At the B&L I went to I noticed there were 2 barcodes on the back of each card - one for the $50 and the other for the $5.95 fee (it was even labeled as such). Their staff are obviously not trained properly in that they don’t know they need to scan both barcodes.

This morning I have;
Totally Workware spend $100 get $20
Cotton:eek:n & Co spend $50 get $20 up to 2 times

Has anyone tried to the the NSW-only Merivale offer to guy a gift card and get the $20 back? Merivale sells gift cards in-person at "The Bottle Shop", but interestingly, that it is not part of the venue list on the Amex offer.

Also, their T&Cs wording might exclude it "Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly at Merivale Restaurants and Bars in-person, for example purchases made through a third party establishment or third party payment processor like PayPal"... but wondering if anyone has successfully done it?
