New Amex statement credits

Agree slightly, most of them case I agree with you to move on. However, despite T&C mentioned exclude gift cards, it's about the matter for AMEX to decide offer cash back, not Harvey Norman. In this case, Harvey Norman as a merchant refuses to sell gift cards to certain payment method not other goods in the store, I believe there's something to do with fair trading.

You'll likely find that it is the store manager (i.e. franchise owner) that is actually paying for the cashback offer..

Yes. As a result it's now impossible to check the balance of these cards unless you contact them directly.

My understanding is that those cards that were hacked were refunded. But it took many weeks to get your money back.

As is usual with these types of cards it's prudent to use them as soon as possible.

That happened to me last time. Took a few months to get my cards replaced. I spent them immediately right after they were replaced.

They were selling physical cards and reduced maximum load from $500 to $300 by the end of the promotion.

I’m in 2 minds about it this time. I have a big bill I’m gearing up to pay and this would be a less time intensive way to pay it than the $100 supermarket cards. Shame there’s no more online balance check facility.

24 x $500 mygift2u gift cards purchased at Harvey Norman today. No problems at all. Staff knew exactly what was going on and asked me how much I made today off the 24 cards.

Did you use 24 different Amex cards or all on the one card? Is it correct that you only get one $100 credit per card?

November is establishing itself as peak Amex credit month with Shop Small, Harvey Norman and a host of new offers available today. Last November I received more than $1600 in credits which was easily my best month ever. This month will be my best in 2017 although I doubt I will eclipse last year's record.

Dr Ralph wouldn't make the rookie mistake of using the same card. I promise you he used 24 different cards.

Care to divulge which store? :)

Update for places to top up go cards in Brisbane for Shop Small:

Just tried two places in the Brisbane CBD:

Creek St News (40 Creek St): No go card with AMEX. Was willing to do it with a surcharge after I asked but would not allow splitting the payment to multiple cards.

City News (10 Eagle St): Again usually no go card with AMEX. Was quiet and she agreed to do it with no surcharge and was happy to split payments. $20 on 8 cards, emails received immediately.

A couple of other places around the place:

Winston Glades News (in Ipswich): Do not do go card top ups but do sell go cards for $20 ($10 deposit + $10 credit) but have limited numbers. No AMEX surcharge and was happy to split payment. I took the only 2 adult go cards they had. Received 2 emails immediately.

Middle Park News & Gifts (in Middle Park surprisingly enough): No AMEX surcharge and again happy to split the payment. He was very efficient and I was in and out in 5 minutes. 8 x $20 payments. No emails as yet but it's on the shop small map so not expecting any problems with getting the cash backs.

A few more additions to this list:

Buranda News: Don't sell or top up go cards

Morningside News & Casket: Don't sell or top up go cards

Burstall Avenue News & Casket (in Tingalpa): Said they didn't take AMEX but when I clarified they admitted it was just for go card that they don't take it. I said they were on the AMEX website as taking it. She got the owner who agreed to take it with no surcharge after seeing the Shop Small map. Split payment 8 x $20 with no issue. Emails came through immediately.

24 different AMEX cards. It is only one credit per card.

Castle Hill, NSW. Though I bought all that the store currently had.

I would not be at all surprised if Dr Ralph had 124 cards;).
Only 24.

I'm trying to maximise things as I'll be cancelling all of my AMEX cards at the end of this month and have to wait out the 18 month exclusion period before I can reapply and get any bonus offerings.

Dr Ralph wouldn't make the rookie mistake of using the same card. I promise you he used 24 different cards.

I'm not adverse to making mistakes. But this is one that I'm confident I got right :)

And for those that were too slow to register for the Harvey Norman offer better luck next time:

'We're sorry, this offer is no longer available, however you can find more great offers below.'

I'll be cancelling mine soon also (after I spend my $450 flight voucher). While I wait out the 18 months, I'll get by using +1's cards.

I was able to sign up 5 cards this morning; looks like I just scraped in.:)

Back from Harvey Norman with important information of concern to those that intend to use the current AMEX offer to buy mygift2u prepaid cards.

When I arrived no more stock was on the shelves. When I asked about them I was told they received a memo from head office today telling them that they should not sell any more of these and should destroy any remaining stock. They then showed me about 10 cards that were in the bin and told me their computer system had been disabled so that they cannot process the sale of these items anymore.

So this is not a case of the AMEX offer not applying to these cards. It appears that these items will not be sold at all.

So, looks like you will be restricted to buying Harvey Norman gift cards and/or products from Harvey Norman to use up your credit offers.

What about vpay cards?

What about vpay cards?
Shop I went to did not stock vpay. Only stocked mygiftcard2u.

But over on ozbargain they are suggesting that stores that do stock vpay are removing those vpay from sale. I suspect just until the AMEX offer is finished (Harvey Norman Spend $400 Get $100 Back @ AMEX).

Clear lesson is that you need to act as soon as these offers are announced. You cannot delay at all.

This is all I have ever done with previous HN offers and will do so again this time.

There is a suggestion on ozbargain that HN gift cards have also now been blocked (Harvey Norman Spend $400 Get $100 Back @ AMEX)

Given previous HN offerings this was never going to happen.

What a joke.

They are literally doing themselves out of sales from people who genuinely want to buy these prepaid cards for gifts. I wonder if the smart people of HN also realise that it is xmas in a few weeks and some people will be looking for these, but will just head to another store and purchase them there (while maybe picking up something else)....
