Was happy to get a business upgrade for tonights QF98...so get to the airport at 1pm and find I cant check in until 4pm!
I know you can check in your luggage in the city 24 hours in advance so thought for sure someone at the airport could do the same...but no.
Wasnt sure if the train station people could do the upgrade so thats why I came to airport.
I guess there are worse airports to be sitting at...

That's right. 24 hour advance check-in at the Airport Express train stations does not mean 24 hour advance check-in is available at the airport. The Airport Express check-in a service jointly provided by Airport Express and is only available to those actually traveling on, or at least paying to travel on the Airport Express - as the fare gets deducted before you can enter the check-in area.

Glad I didnt take it then...would have lost my precious seat...lol
Cant see the pont arriving early which they say they want, when you sit around babysitting your bag waiting for the airline to start work.

Many of us have been in this situation unfortunately.

Yes I knew all that but would they do the upgrade?
In case it ever happens again...

Yes ... it shpuld be no issue.

I have checked in at Central in the morning and received boarding passes reflecting points upgrades.

Well finally in the lounge...check in opened at 2.45 not 4.30 like I was told.
I checked in about 3.45 after leaving my seat and going for a walk.
Then tried to find the lounge...lapped the whole airport, no signs, only to find a hard right from security would get you there.
Still find it weird that a train station will take your bag but the airport wont.

You had a whole range of lounges to choose from... four Cathay Lounges (Wing, Cabin, Bridge, Pier) plus the Qantas Lounge. The Cathay Pier (business class) is one of the best out there, some would argue on par with some First class lounge offerings.
