Dont expect any support from Qantas on an EK codeshare

I found out how Qantas view their codeshares when I booked F to Nairobi, some years ago. I wanted to try Emirates, so I selected EK metal, with the Qantas flight number for the flight out and came back on QF2. This was a revenue booking, not award, booked via Qantas website and money paid to Qantas. I assumed I would get the normal things like a phonecall to book the Spa and First Host in the lounge. No - nothing. When I took it up with Qantas they actually considered whether they should be offering those services for their F passengers flying on the codeshares, but eventually came back and said they wouldn't. If you booked F on QF metal, you were Qantas, otherwise you dealt with Emirates and the QF flight number was irrelevant.

The only assistance I ever received from the P1 SST with respect to any EK codeshare issue was to be given the number to call EK direct....

Not just EK now I think of it. Poor experiences with seat selection - including by the SST - on CX, JL and LAN. So now I always call the airline itself to get the seat I want. CX flights weren't codeshared though, to be fair.

But QF does not have a 'special' alliance with those airlines (CX, LA, JL) and did not 'abandon' all QFi service to/from some cities to them.
