Quick question, as haven't QFi out of MEL for some time now. I notice cutoff for check-in for economy is 90 mins. Bit of overkill, no? I'm used to flying MEL-SIN on EK and SQ, who have 60 and 45 mins cutoffs respectively (and noting Jetstar and Scoot also have 60 min!). So rocking up at MEL at 1800 for a 1900 flight on SQ is not an issue at all.

However, on QF, if you are SG and entitled to use J check-in, do you get the J check-in cutoff of 60 mins even though in Y, or do you need to meet 90 mins?

Is this a new change? I was under the impression international check-in cutoff was 60 minutes. There have been a few times in the past few years where I'd struggle to check-in 60 minutes before departure but just made check-in cutoff.

I think you've answered my question, that access to a premium check in queue entitles you to access to the cutoff for that queue. It is 60 mins for J & F, so I assume checking in as a WP meant you can check in up to 60 mins before hand.

On their website for sometime now it has been 90 minutes for international departures from Australia in economy and premium economy, which is a bit ordinary when Jetstar cutoff is only 60 minutes. (FWIW Changi website indicates QF check-in open until 30mins before departure ex-SIN, not quite game to cut it that fine, as efficient as Changi is).
