Has anyone signed up, received points, and cancelled the policy here? I've completed the first two and can't remember if, in order to retain the 20,000 point bonus, you need to hold the policy for a specified time.

6months is the period.

What I read was 6 month minimum to retain points.

This is what the offer stated. However some have already reported that they have immediately cancelled their policy and the points have not (yet?) been clawed back.

But they could claw them back at any time, and people cancelling it immediately could ultimately ruin it for the rest of us in the future with amex offers.. Over a small amount of money..

Hence why I wrote "yet".

I've not cancelled my policy. But when I return from the US I will be cancelling all of my AMEX cards and my insurance policies. Good luck clawing back the points in that situation.

I have found most people only like to think about themselves when it comes to this stuff. Just like ozbargain people abuse the system.

In this case is the extra $40 or really so bad? Just wait the 6 months .

It's an incredible deal.

I have had my AMEX credit card charged, but I have not received any points yet.

How long did it take for everyone else to receive the 20k bonus?

Thanks ^_^

Are you paying by the month or annually?
I think that affects when the points will arrive.

Whether it is monthly on annually the points should arrive same day first charge clears .

I have already had the first month free, paid for the second month, and no points transferred for 2 weeks now.

Anyone know what number to call? Thanks

My two policies (myself and wife) charged to my card on the same day thurs, today only one lot of 20,000 came through... In peoples experiences did the second lot of points come at the same time or different?

Policies debited at the same time should receive points at the same time. Did you use a separate account rather than a supplementary card for the policy? It's been well documented that the points are only available once per account. Supplementary cards do no count as separate accounts.

All of your cards? Don't you have a fair few. Why are you doing this?

Yes I will cancel all of my AMEX cards in November. I intend to wait out the 18 months and sign up again and get the new sign up bonuses. This is what credit card churning is about. You have to be ruthless if you want to maximise points. The benefits of signing up again far outweigh keeping these cards.
