First time poster, please go easy :) Would appreciate a bit of advice.

Flying Syd-Bkk EK419 with a carry on bag only.

If I check in online and print my boarding pass is it possible to arrive at the airport anytime and head straight through security? Or is it necessary to still "check in" at the Emirates counter prior to going through?

I ask as I'll likely be arriving at the airport more than 3 hours prior to the flight. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to AFF.

Yes, according to EK web site you can but never done this myself. Once you have a boarding pass you should have no problems getting through security and immigration to airside, and the lounges.

Yes, absolutely not a problem. You will get a beep at the gate though as they will do the 'visa check' which is normally done at the check in desk.

Thanks for the welcome and reply.

Australian Frequent Flyer Seafarer (odd , u'll prolly have to change that to SkyFarer ;-)

'Relax' said the night man,

Haha a royal welcome, appreciated. Should I call you Don or Glenn? ;) Cheers.

I've done this before with a home-printed boarding pass and headed straight for the Emirates lounge. They asked for my passport also to do the 'OK to travel' check to save time at the boarding gate, and printed me a 'real' boarding pass while they were at it. :)

ChrisFlyer,
that was my experience today. Arrived at the airport early, straight through security and had time for a leisurely lunch in the Qantas F lounge. I've just wandered down to the Emirates lounge where they've processed my passport and issued a new boarding pass. Enjoying a nice little single malt now and ready to take to the skies in awhile. Cheers.

Glad to hear everything went smoothly for you - and that you made use of the QF F lounge! Hope you had a great flight. :)

Best of my life. Having read plenty of EK F reviews I had a pretty good idea what to expect, but the cabin crew were awesome and exceeded my expectations. Caviar, Hennessy Paradis, Shower, only 4/14 seats occupied. Friendly crew. Great flight. Gonna be tough to fly anything else in future..

Careful. It's addictive:) We can't go back now.
