CHC - SYD last week with EK in cattle. Asked for a chardy with the meal service - was given a Shiraz. Had to explain that Chardy was a white wine - was told "I wouldn't know I don't drink wine"

Lol!! Interesting service there. I'm sure anyone can misunderstand or not hear what was asked for but sometimes too much of the truth is a bad thing.

In general I find EK Y to be a bit hit and miss service wise. A lot more misses actually......

You are right Princess. Dubai to Barcellona was great - SYD - AUK Average. Also on the CHC flight. We were told that the chicken was gone and we could only have the fish. OK for me but not so the Bride. We were sitting next to the galley and a little later we heard the chief bloke to remind the same non wine drinker "now don't forget what I told you to tell them it's OK to have the chicken but there will be a slight delay" sheez!!

Yeah, I find them to be pretty bad in Y. I would certainly be sending EK feedback.

I would have found this amusing, but not really a major service issue if they promptly offered to replace my red wine for a white one after being given that new information.

A few months ago I flew business class on Virgin. When I asked what wines were available, I was told "white or red". The FA knew nothing more about the wines on offer.

Fully agree, 'inconsistency' is EK's trademark service component both in J and Y. Had a couple of rather pleasant flights with them recently though, mostly admittedly in the Business cabin.
