Coles gift card offers

It's a shame there is so much paranoia around money laundering - I'm sure that was partly to blame outside of any MS on the reloadable card. I'm sure I wasn't alone in using the online MC to pay ATO with legitimately earned cash. Might be showing my naivety on this but can't imagine anyone using dirty money to pay the ATO.
I'm sure it didn't help Indue's business case that there'd be very little chance a customer paying ATO would forget to spend all the money on their card and thus forfeit it on expiry which in addition to the $5 fee would have been the business case.
RIP to a good product.
I'm sure if there has been use of these cards for money laundering it would be based on real evidence rather than paranoia, the fact that some people may be using totally legitimately doesn't negate this.

Me too - I did like these cards. Too bad they have been withdrawn from service. Perhaps Coles will release an even better product! Or not...

Just about out of my Coles Mastercards from the last deal.

Has there been a Perfect Giftcard offering from Coles like Woolies has a couple of times a year?

Dont recall Coles doing a myperfect offer that was more than 1 card/FB account

I realised I got a bit carried away with these recent supermarket gift card promotions,
I purchased a few sale gift cards to test a theory even though I didnt need them nor will use them, which is essentially a waste

and last night, I actually lost a coles card, jb hifi card from my wallet, they just slipped out

damage under $80 for both of them, however, it put into perspective of various risks with purchasing these cards

keep it real everyone!

This is a really good point actually, I was paranoid carrying over 1k of cards in my wallet at one point. I don't carry cash for this exact reason - nobody knows you are carrying a lot of money, but you feel as if everyone is looking at you!

(plus, always use CCs for the points...)

The last line of your paragraph is a powerful line for me

Always wondered about those Best restaurant cards work, anyone with experience?

Given very few meals are worth exactly $50 my concern would be as to whether under/overs are handled "elegantly" or can be a bit of a pain, e.g. how do restaurants react to being handed a card with only a couple of dollars remaining on it!

Yay hoyts cards!!

@burmans I went to quay and paid using 9x$50 gift card vouchers. Took a while for the receipt to return, but fk em. It's a smart way to save money.

These types of offers are becoming a bit too regular. Surely they can't be seen as a legitimate way of improving your profit margins.

Why would I make a purchase at these businesses if I knew I could wait to receive these types of offerings - especially thinking of the frequent Myer or David Jones gift card deals.

I think their train of thought is this;
-lock the customer in to only spending at your store instead of a competitor
-hope they dont use the full balance
-inflate turnover artificially

Yeah, quay I wouldn't have a problem with, I'm more concerned with a restaurant that say coughk you back! Somehow I suspect there might be some, given how some object to even splitting bills!

Didn't someone say earlier that the % of unused/lost/expired gift cards is something like 20%?

I tried to use it at Pilu when they had the dimmi 50% offer. they rejected it. The food was terrible, wont recommend going there.

I think the best way of avoiding a small balance is to just use one card per dinner and pay the balance with another card. I don't think the restaurant can object to this, given they accept the cards to start with.
