I saw the same at Perth on Monday morning boarding QF590 to Adelaide. They had a staff member (ground crew I think?) standing at the entry to the premium lane checking boarding passes.
As the meercat would say....Simples!
I can only comment that I flew QF out of MEL domestic last Saturday and boarding was the same old shambles as uaual.
Good to hear this might be improving. But will wait a little longer to see what comes of it. Could be a few one off's. Perhaps new staff on the job.
Ive seen too many times boarding being a free for all. Even a gate agent asking for someone to "sort out the premium queue" but nothing happening.
As mentioned by others. Ive seen it done well by others. CX & AA are good at it.

Enforcing how? As in, sending people who are in the wrong lane to the back of the right one?
.......AA are good at it.
