Hi, I'm after approximately 300,000 QF Points,
I was wondering if there are ways of purchasing them through people and doing a family transfer as you can only purchase a limited amount through Qantas direct?
any suggestions on how i could go about this?

Thanks in advance

Ryan

Purchasing points through people is against the T&C's of the Program, which the risk is that QF will close the account.

There are other ways of getting the points without the risk of breaching the T&C's of the program.

At a requirement of 300,000 points, I would probably just pay the airfare :)
That's an awful lot of wine and credit card sign ons, methinks.

Yes you should exhaust any credit card sign ons before purchasing points. The QF rules prevent non relatives from selling points to each other and if you get caught they could cancel both accounts. In addition to the Big4 banks QF has deals with a group of businesses like American Express, LJ Hooker and various others to support their customers loyalty programs.

I got the NAB CC a few months back (bonus 75,000 points at $1500) and now I just got the Westpac Black CC (100,000 points at $5000).
You also have the ANZ Qantas (bonus 75,000 points at $2500).
That would give you 250,000 points with the purchases required to get the bonus points if you are eligible to get the cards and manage to do the purchase requirements within the 3 months.

Combine that with Woolworths Rewards and other items and you might make it :)

We have a number of staff doing either VA or QF points sign ons. There are some good ones to be done before buying points.

Credit card sign-up bonuses will be the way to go, although be aware that it'll take a few months for the points to arrive. In the last 5 months, I've got 110K from Amex, 75K from NAB and 70K from Citibank. There's currently a few CC deals:
75,000 points from Amex if you use my referral link (I also get 40K points): http://amex.com.au/refer/paulsqn8o
75,000 points from ANZ with their black card: https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/black/
60,000 points from HSBC: https://www.hsbc.com.au/1/2/qantas
50,000 points from Citibank: https://www.citibank.com.au/CardsOnline/qantasff.htm?cid=AF-Optimise-Qantas-062016&sig=Q1N8TY6G (btw Citibank are pretty poor to deal with)

I'm curious to know, what are you looking at spending the points on? I used the aforementioned sign-up bonuses on QF F on QF1 which I'm incredibly excited about!

Could get a lot of toasters *lol*

I get emails from customers who are flying on loyalty points to all parts of the world. Because Qantas is so heavily booked up they may use QF partners like Emirates, Japan Air and others often using Expert Flyer to locate opportunities. Right now Emirates is dealing with a 35% slump in traffic to the US so doing a long cut with them in First Class via Dubai may be a dream come true. Slightly better than buying trinkets like toasters.

Yes, I have been investigating some interesting looking options recently.

Everyone has their favourites when it comes to using Qantas points. We have been watching Qatar with their new products, Emirates, Malaysian and a host of others.

Getting your QF account cancelled would really mess me up so I won't be buying or selling QF points.
Some folks like dealing with Alaskan Air who seem to run pretty good promos several times a year.

Just a reminder that this thread is about discussing the ways of earning a large lump sum of Qantas points, and there are many ways. The OP originally questioned a purchasing them from someone who is not family, but using the family transfer system. As has been pointed out, this is against the QFF T&C, further, buying and selling is against the AFF T&C as well. If you are approached to buy or sell points, you should report your post to a Moderator or Administrator.
