Good change as I was looking for a new 1ppd card to replace my HSBC Qantas Card, but I doubt I would keep it beyond the 1st annual-fee free year as the Qantas Black will still be asking for $425pa.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Sigh, ANZ. 1 pt / $ is ok for Visa (these days anyway) but $7500 / month is ridiculously low for a card that costs over $400 / yr.

If they are going to apply these rates to existing cardholders this will be the third time I have cancelled ANZ credit cards due to their points stinginess.

A
New earn rates:

Enhanced by how much?

The Travellers card has also been changed, up by 50%, from 1.0 points to 1.5 points for $1 spend, thus 0.75 VFF per $1

The travellers card has gone up by 0.5 points (0.25 VFF) only for the first $2000 spend. After $2000, it's been cut from 1 point to 0.5 points.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Hmm ... not sure it's an "enhancement" for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum Visa.

Was 0.5 points per $ to a max monthly spend of $6000 then nufin.

So a slight increase.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Well this is terrible. I rely on my ANZ QF Black Amex for everything. Its always been unlimited earn on each card.
Time to give the banker a call!!

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Well I'm glad I'm not with them... but then I can't imagine the other banks are far behind.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Me too, have been with them for years, so time for a change, I wonder if the Qantas CC comes to fruition and what the terms will be

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

We'll be better off although not by much as we rarely have to use a Visa card. The AMEX companion cards were cut up when they arrived as we prefer he flexibility offered by our AMEX issued cards.

The OP said that ANZ were no longer issuing the Amex. However he did not say that existing Amex's would be cancelled.

Is there a release on what the situation is?

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Is there an email i missed or announcement somewhere? Other than the AUSBT article was this announced somewhere else. Its obviously well hidden on the ANZ website. Although i do note the website does only show the Visa now when you look up the card.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

They'd better be offering pro-rata refunds if that's the case, otherwise I smell an ACCC complaint down the track.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I have this card diarised to cancel next week before the annual fee kicks in! This will give me an easy excuse now, without all the hassle of them trying to retain me as a cardholder when I call to cancel :)

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I am on the phone to them now and the CS person did not know anything about it ?....have read out the statement and effective 5/8/2017......was a bit concerned about my travel insurance for a trip coming up in August but apparently I will be covered so long as I have spent the $250 on either Visa or Amex. CS rep just got back and said that ANZ will be issuing letters but she knew nothing else....good customer service ANZ !!!

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I have only spent more than $7.5K on a few occasions. Generally when planning and paying for a trip.
I wonder if i can get them to issue me two ANZ QF Black cards to get around this new restriction. Although they may not allow me to have 2 of the same card linked to my QF account. But i would always ask. Will wait till their CS catchup and then think about asking.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

I wonder what the new fee will be for ANZ Black Visa only...mine expires June so will look at all alternatives.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Not surprised as this was clearly a leader in the point department but I am disappointed

the points cap will hit me hard, doubly so with no higher earning AMEX.
i also heavily use Apple Pay (90% of the time) which now many smaller banks have
will have to shop around to see if I can get a better deal.. at least 1PPD is a good rate for VISA so it's not terrible but it's no longer awesome.

Re: ANZ QFF/Rewards card earn rates enhanced™

Damn, not looking great for me.
Will most likely keep it until August.

After that, I will look at ditching for one of the standalone VISA/MasterCard at the cheaper fee. (if they maintain their earn rate and annual fees of course).
