New Amex statement credits

Looks like Uncle Dan may have gotten smarter, tried pay for that $50 e-giftcard couple of times but it keep being declined. Bought an actual bottle of plonk and voila, it went through without a hitch.

Purchased a $50 gift card from DM on Monday. Rebate came through today. No problems at all.

a question for the amex statemetn credit newbie

it says first 10,000 cards to register

so that means that if you register your card, you are guaranteed to get the cash back if you purchase?

or can it actually sell out even though you are registerd?

Got all excited, thinking there was a new DM offer.....then realised the 3Jan offer expires on 17Feb and that's why the revival in posts is happening.

I had the same problem on two of my cards, all the others went through fine though - inc rebate. I think Dan's might have some problems with their system, perhaps during busy times. Nothing to worry about in my opinion.

Not an option with this offer unfortunately, the purchases have to be online in order to qualify.

Several people on OzBargain reported that they had issues with DM e-giftcard payments being rejected and/or not processing. I didn't have any problems on the Dan Murphy site, but on the other hand I've never been able to get either of my Amex cards to work with the WW Online site (which I'm hoping might be fixed now, but not rushing to find out as I always shop in-store at WW anyway - only ever tried to use WW Online for Amex offers).

You CANNOT do this!

'Save the offer to your Card and spend $50 or more, in one or more transactions, online only at www.danmurphys.com.au by 17/02/2017 to receive one $10 credit. Limited to the first 30000 Cards to save the offer. '

You're quoting the T&C's at me? Since when has the T&C's on these deals ever been applied THAT rigorously? Well I bought gift cards and got the credit and THAT'S not allowed in the T&C's. In fact, I pointed out this same thing on the upcoming Boccaccio Cellars deal just a couple of pages ago, only to be told by you, Dr Ralph, that even though the T&C's were instore only the credit had been applied to online bookings on the previous deal. So which is it? You CANNOT do anything against the T&C's, or they are not always accurate?

Unless you walked in to Dan Murphys and tried, my advice to those experiencing online difficulties would be DO NOT take the T&C's as absolute gospel. If it hasn't been tested, you've got nothing to lose trying, right?

People *have* tried doing it instore in the past and failed.
The SC offer is for spend ONLY on DM online.
And yes, Amex can tell. It goes by the merchant code on the transaction.

Wanna know how?
Because I spent $120 on one of my Amex cards on 14 Jan in my local DM, and on my statement it comes up as
"DAN MURPHY'S ~~~suburb~~~" <I edited the suburb name out for privacy.
I didn't do this with the intention of trying to get the statement credit, I was shopping for other reasons, but I didn't get the activation email, nor did I get the statement credit.

Yesterday, I purchased a few DM $50 gift cards from the DM website on my various Amex cards, purely for the purpose of getting the statement credit. On my statement (they've already been processed), it comes up as
"DAN MURPHY ONLINE 8305 BELLA VISTA"
I instantly received all my SC activation emails.

The merchant code is what triggers the statement credit for this offer.

And in store, they do not use merchant code 8305... it's a unique merchant code only used by DM online when processing transactions.

Similar to others, I can confirm that DM Online has worked across my cards (both for goods and Gift Cards - one of which topped up an OPAL card today).

scubabe, you are correct - this particular promotion is only working on specific merchant codes (ONLINE ONLY).

However as Happy Dude posts, on some occasions in the past this hasn't always been the case... No two promotions are alike, even if they look very similar.

Yes.

Most of the time.

It's been well reported that it doesn't work in store. That is why I stated you cannot do it. If it was unclear for you I make the point that the current DM amex offer is online only both from the terms of the offer and in reality. The merchant code for in store and online is different so AMEX can easily trace your purchases.

Called Dan to find out what happened to my account, apparently it's been flagged for possible fraud attempts because "no one have 16 credit cards".

Send them my details if you like. 22 AMEX currently.

To avoid this type of problem I staggered my purchases over the period of the AMEX offer.

I also made sure that I was not logged in to my Dan Murphys account when I made some of the purchases.

I took the same precautions and I have a mere 7 cards.

Did you purchase 22 $50 gift cards Doc?

Popped in to Bob Jane today to have 2 of the 4 tyres fitted bought with Amex 400/125 SC, stacked on BJ price match, stacked on Michelin $50 cashback for 4 tyres. Result $210 tyre for $93ea.
Back to the story, BJ had sold my tyres (Michelin Pilotsport 3). "Would it be alright if we fit the new model Pliotsport 4"...yeah orright.
I can't believe this just keeps getting better. :)

FTR, Bob Jane at Brookvale have provided first rate service. Recommended.

yes, DM card can be used at all woolies group store, tried that and no issue at all..

I've just loaded my Dan Murphy gift cards from the offer into my Woolies group app on my phone and they come up as wish cards so presumably these can be used at all the woolies group stores.

Absolutely. All DM cards show up as Wish cards and that's how WW treats them. It is a good little app - you can load it uo with your Woolworths Rewards Cards as well. Very handy.
