I have MEL-HKG-JFK and then LAX-BNE booked on QFF points but still need to get JFK-LAX tickets. QF tells me that I can't do that on points because it isn't part of the JFK-LAX-MEL direct flight? is it really not possible to book a one way ticket domestically on AA using QF points?

Admittedly LAX-BNE is PE and I could use the points to upgrade that to J, and pay for the daytime AA flight in economy anyway. Might be a better option.

there are problems with this flight specifically, i wouldn't try and book it simply because even fi you manage to book it Qantas often refuse to let people board. If you search you'll find several threads about it.

You can potentially book a proper AA flight however.

To clarify, I just want the normal AA flight. I'm aware that the QF metal on that route involves all kinds of weirdness. The website won't let us book the AA flight and QF on the phone only want to talk about the QF metal.

I'm trying to do the exact same thing from BWI - LAX or DCA - LAX and for some reason there seems to be no way to book a oneway AA flight using QFF points..... at least on the routes I'm looking for.

If I come up with a solution I'll post back here.

This week I booked a QFF PHX-MRY flight for March - took 18 hours to ticket.

Hmmm ... Are you getting this far?

I may be looking too far in the future. How far out does AA open up award availability? I'm looking Nov/Dec/Jan??

Sorry rechoboamfor hijacking your thread here.

My mistake. I've managed to book MCO-JFK before on points without issue. Don't know enough ot help you here though sadly.

There are plenty of threads and comments on AA message boards about the (lack of) availability of classic awards - especially on direct flights. If you log on to aa.com (USA site) you should be able to search for award seats even without an AA FF account.

Happy wandering
