Day 2, had another SNAFU with transport to the game



but not as bad as yesterday. The BCC stuffed up, so I had to go back up to the Roma Street Busway to get a local bus

Arrived to see the Aussies practicing for the day batting.

I was dining by myself today, as both my father, uncle and my clients had chosen the dinner sitting. The good part about the "local rules" is that they tend to sit you with other members who are similarly without a full table, so I was sitting with a member (since 1976) Tony. He and his sister were great company.

Today's menu:



The entree was well constructed, salty (prosciutto) paired with the (sweet) peach was delightful and the crunch of the Turkish crisp. I enjoyed a glass of Tim Knappstein Pinot.

Conversation was flowing and so were the wines. Given there was no rush, we lingered over our wines when surprisingly one of the servers came around and offered some Tasmanian oysters (seems there were some going begging from the Wisden Room next door), so Tony as his sister snapped up 2 dozen. (Damn I forgot to get a photo). A little lime and soy chili added to the flavour profile

Lunch was a Lille underwhelming - it was well cooked (soft and juicy), but the flavour wasn't there. A glass of Torbreck Canecutter saved it.



Dessert (again I forgot to photograph) was a bit disappointing however the hero was this Torbreck dessert wine.



I need to do some research on this one and I'll take a couple home with me. Not a true sticky, as they don't use the standard process to make it. It's thinner and slightly less alcohol but makes up with stone fruits and lychees.
