On Friday 4 November 2016, SH828, the 1630 MEB - WMB took off at 1731; arrival is suggested as 67 minutes late at 1817.

While these Sharp Airlines flights also go to Portland which is further from Melbourne, it is not worthwhile to fly between Melbourne and Warrnambool when the V/Line train runs three times a day and only takes about three hours 20 minutes from Southern Cross to Warrnambool at a far cheaper fare, even in first class.

On Tuesday 21 February 2017 there was an horrendous light accident near Runway 17 in which five individuals (including the pilot) were killed.

Media indicated that three airlines operating RPT flights from MEB would have these transferred to MEL while MEB remained closed.

However the 1615 MEB - KNS was airborne from AVV, not MEL at 1858 with Metro 23 (is this the correct way to describe this Fairchild?) VH-MYI. Arrival is suggested as 1938 instead of 1733.

On Thursday 23 March 2017, SH802 from FLS down to LST, the 0855 hours, took off at 0921 with arrival of VH-UUB expected at about 1001 hours, 31 late.

Saturday 29 April 2017 has SH922 from MEB down to KNS, the 0730 hours, having taken off at 0750 but arrival is not expected until 0846, 31 late. Aircraft is SA227-AC VH-SEZ.

Monday 29 May's SH188 from DPO to MEL (Fairchild Metro III VH-OZV) should arrive at about 2050, around an hour behind schedule.

SH appears to be punctual a lot of the time but on Thursday 27 July, SH829 (displaying on FR24 as 'PTJ to WMB' but it may mean 'PTJ to MEB'), the 1805 hours was airborne at 1903 and should arrive at 2004 hours, 94 minutes tardy. Fairchild Metro 23 (if that is the correct description) VH-HWR is the aircraft.

The economics of operating MEL - WMB (that goes on to Portland, Vic.) must be questionable given that it's often quicker or not much slower and far less costly, at least from the Melbourne CBD to travel by V/Line train or drive, but SH runs pounctually much of the time.

However on Friday 18 August SH822 (0640 hours MEB - WMB) did not become airborne until 0724, so arrival is delayed until 0812 hours, 52 minutes late. VH-UUB is the aircraft.

Except you can add at least another hour getting from near MEB to Southern Cross. And it's 3h20 without any delays (which happen not infrequently).

Wednesday 18 October sees SH805, the 1030 hours morning offering from MEB to windy FLS (VH-UUB) not having taken off until 1325. Expected arrival is 1428, 173 minutes tardy.

What has been a foggy morning in Melbourne sees SH804 from FLS to MEB (Fairchild VH-UUB) likely to arrive at 1343 hours, 43 minutes behind schedule.

On Friday 31 May 2019, SH801 from LST to FLS, the 0800 hours, took off at 0859 so arrival is delayed until 0930, 55 late. VH-UUB is the small aircraft.

I miss a lot of the Sharp Airlines activity but occasional sightings suggest it's largely punctual. It has recently announced cessation of flying from Melbourne to Warrnambool and Portland (Vic) as the route is uneconomic.

On Friday 16 August 2019, SH922 from MEB to KNS, the 0730 hours (Metroliner VH-SEZ) took off at 0827 so arrival should be 0908 hours, 53 late.

The August view of Sharp being mostly punctual remains, albeit that I fail to monitor many of its offerings. That said, on Friday 1 November, SH801, the early morning 0800 LST to FLS did not become airborne until 1109 so arrival is predicted as 1140 hours, 185 late for VH-HWR, a Metroliner.

On Sunday 19 January 2020, SH812, the 1255 hours lunchtime FLS up to MEB (not MEL) took off at 1443 with Metroliner VH-MYI. Arrival looks to be 1547 hours, 107 late.

Later on 19 January 2020, SH878, the 1850 hours dinner time GFF down to MEB did not take off until 2210. VH-MYI (same aircraft as in previous post, but delay has intensified) should arrive at about 2314 late tonight, 204 minutes tardy.

On Monday 10 February 2020, SH895 (1725 hours late afternoon KNS - LST operated by VH_SWK) was in the sky at 1745 so expected arrival is 49 minutes delayed at 1844 hours.

Melbourne has had thunderstorms and has been unsettled during the late afternoon and some of the evening of Friday 14 February. SH878 from GFF down to MEB (not MEL) has Fairchild (Metroliner?) VH-OYG and is the 1850 hours airborne at 2022. Arrival should be 2145 mid evening, 115 late.
