I will be in BNE domestic Tuesday 4th and as a VA WP I have no status with Qantas. I would love to be smuggled in to the Lounge around 3.30-4.00 pm after my job interview.

If you don't get anyone to guest you into Qantas lounge you can guest any "friend" who is flying VA into VA lounge. You do not need to be flying VA.

You do need to be flying VA to guest someone into the VA lounge.
VA does not have anytime access to their lounges for Platinums as an official policy.
"Receive complimentary access for you and three additional guests, plus up to two children aged between three to 12 years.
Platinum members may also access the Virgin Australia Lounge on arrival.
Up to two children aged three to twelve years can accompany you into the lounge.

Have I got this wrong/has it changed? My understanding was that somebody in your party needs to be flying VA that day, but not necessarily you. Your guest can be the one flying VA that day.

Scenario: You are VA WP and you are not flying at all, but are sending off your companion on a VA flight — you should have lounge access together.

(I think that's what JohnK was referring to?)

VA removed anytime access in 2012. There is no official access for SG or WP unless they have a BP for a flight that day or are arriving from a flight.
If you can't access the lounge, you can't guest.
This may well be a YMMV situation, I have only accessed the lounge once without having a BP for a flight and I asked at the desk if it was ok as I was waiting for a relative inbound on VA

Thanks, so it's a YMMV then and if refused to guest someone when you are not flying there's nothing to show the staff.

I have my 60 year old parents arriving in brisbane airport early on domestic as for an international departure 0810 on qf8770 / emirates codeshare at 0810 TOMORO / 6 october, if anyone can get 2 people into the lounge i would super super appreciate it as they have never been in a lounge
