As a member who has previously earned Qantas Points with Travelex, we wanted to let you know that from 1 November 2016 you'll no longer be able to earn points on Travelex services.

Boost your Qantas Points in other ways

There are still plenty of ways for you to boost your Qantas Points balance every day. For instance, did you know you can earn Qantas Points
dining out
, paying your
phone
bill or by
shopping online
?

Whilst it was never very many points, I used to pick up a bit of currency through Travelex when at the airport if I needed to. Sadly no more.:(

I didn't even know you could earn QFF points with Travelex!

Just checked and it seems you couldn't on "Online Foreign Currency or Online Cash Passport". I only used them on-line where their rates are often quite good.

You could definitely earn the points using travelex online, but I believe there was a link to the specific page you had to use.

And you paid for it too. If you compared the rates on the "earning" page with the rates on the "non-earning" page, the points weren't free.

Now that Qantas want you to use their Qantas Cash Card why would they want you to use Travelex.

I usually found the rate through the Qantas link was much better than the normal page but it's all moot now.

As others have noted once Qantas cash came into existence then the writing was on the wall.

I used Travelex once because of the points but have avoided them ever since. Worst rates by far. And they charge commission/fees.

I gave up on Travelex years ago: poor exchange rates, high fees plus you almost always had to follow up to get the QFF points allocated even when you were definitely entitled to them.

Travelex's pre-order on-line rates are usually good and the pick-up at the airport can be very convenient.

Don't buy at the counter! That's when the rates can be terrible.

According to this, as yes, no one has put in a note at the bottom of the QP website, of the fact that points will no longer be earnt from 01 Nov.
Wonder if someone at QF "forgets" to take this offer down, or does not amend info, would the colleague have a case if they bought forex with Travelex relying on the info on the website, and not as told by the OP.

Just tried to do a Travelex transaction and they have lived up to their difficult selves.

Our address for banking purposes is a PO Box.

Travelex require addresses to be residential and PO Box's are not acceptable. That's OK except when you go to pay they require the banking details billing address to also be a residential address. So if you us a PO Box it does not work from their end and if you use a residential address the banking end does not like it and the transaction fails!

A lose, lose situation.

The real problem then is that they have put a hold on the money at the bank. They say it's the banks problem and the bank says it is their problem so I have a whole bunch of CC access that's unavailable for who knows how long.

I guess ultimately Travelex will be the loser as they will lose the transaction as I'll simply get cash from someone else at the airport. In context of this thread it means that I really don't care any more if Qantas dump Travelex as a points partner.

For Straitman, when I used Travelex in the past to forex currencies, I have never been asked for an address, not even a form to fill in. Granted mine was straight Aud$ cash for Nzd$ cash.
I won't be using them now, but strange they need an address, unless you were doing online buying and then airport pick up (which I have not used).
