I'm looking to travel BNE-MLA next year via SIN and FRA, and have found some great fares that mix a QF marketed and operated flight from BNE-SIN with LH marketed and operated flights to FRA and MLA. This will be booked online through LH's website.

I'm looking to insert my KrisFlyer number for the LH flights, but was wondering whether I could put a missing points claim into Qantas for the QF flights from BNE to SIN and back?

Thanks.

You can insert a different FF number per flight if you wanted to. You'll need to call LH and get them to do it over the phone and then not touch your booking online.

Otherwise you will need a knowledgeable travel agent to issue the ticket for you and apply those accordingly.

Missing points claims are a pain and don't always work when it's ticket stock of another carrier.

Thanks madrooster, wasn't aware I could add FF numbers per flight. Wonder if this will work for frequent flyer programs that are not a partner of LH, such as QF? Will give LH a call and ask.

Yes, QFF number against the Qantas flights. I wouldn't call and 'ask' them, I would call and 'tell' them. An inexperienced operator may just say sorry, no.

I've done those LH issued combos; the QF feed-in sector can be pretty cheap!

Having a habit of winning the inexperienced operator lottery, this is a great point, thanks for the tip!

Just wondering whether this extends to other carriers or if it is just LH specific? For example, UA frequently sell QF domestic sectors to feed into their US bound services.

Thanks!

madrooster would probably be more authoritative, but I would say yes - even though the flight might be on UA or LH 'ticket stock', if the flight has a QF flight number, having your QFF number against that sector will earn QFF points and SCs.

As I mentioned, I do this very often, (sometimes in 'reverse' - Air Canada Canada-US then QF across the Pacific) but I nearly always have my Travel Agent do the reservations, so the FF number allocation happens 'automatically' :)
