Had our adult son "guested" in to the Sydney Flounge at the beginning of our family holiday 3 weeks ago. About to be turned away at the door when a lovely man offered him entrance as a guest. He even waited around at the desk to make sure there were no hiccups. We were flabbergasted and extremely grateful for not only his generosity, but the fact that he noticed our situation and decided to help. Didn't get his name or feel that we adequately thanked him, so I'm hoping he reads this. A memorable start to a memorable holiday. Cheers.

Good to see.

I have done this a few times in various lounges. Some staff hate the kind gesture as if the bill is coming off their salary. I have even been asked "Are you sure" from lounge staff. Yes I am sure.

I noticed a similar situation at the QP in Adelaide a few weeks back. Obviously the adult child was being knocked back as only one parent was entitled to access so the other was the guest. I was going to guest them in but I thought that your guest was supposed to be travelling with you and the lounge staff would be well aware that wasn't the case. (As well as the fact that one of the "gentlemen" at the QP desk is possibly the grumpiest, most unhelpful sod I have ever seen)

I will know better if I see this again.

for domestic flights, and hence lounges, there is no travel together requirement. I know ADL does have international qantas lounge using flights, but they have always used the domestic rules even when travelling international for me.

was he a member of AFF?

Good news story. Some staff get funny about it when you think it wouldn't matter, perhaps their little bit of control in the world taken away.

Great to hear... I agree some staff seem to think it is a challenge to their authority or something. I would also guest in this situation. It's great the whole family got to enjoy the experience.

Does that mean that the person dropping me off for a flight or coming to see me off, can come up to the lounge and partake in the F&B and use the lounge facilities until my flight.

Yes and have done it many times.

I always avoid contact with Mr. Grumpy at the ADL QP. On the other hand, Robyn is lovely.

In general, I am totally against guesting strangers, but in the apparent circumstances here - well done! :)

I'd tend to agree if someone is standing around the entrance hoping to beg a guest in.
I recall a family member getting rejected at the AKL EK lounge in front of me and I guested them in. The dragons gave me an odd look.

I was solicited for lounge access for the first time 2 weeks ago - I was guesting AFFer Sara and as a WP had a spare spot but didn't think it was appropriate so kept walking.

While waiting for Sara at the top of the escalator in MEL the guy walked past with someone so was successful within a minute of my passing

There's also the public bus to/from the city - J1 or J2(?).

hopefully they wouldn't drop someone off at the airport using the bus... ;)

I am wondering if the demise of Masters will make that carpark a free for all. I've had notices on my car when parking at IKEA overnight.
I've also asked IKEA if I could pay them to park in their carpark. But they didn't want to play.
