Quite happy being referred to by my first name. The thing I find annoying is that the Gentleman has a different surname to me and when i board the aeroplane I often get referred to as Mrs Gentleman. No thank you - you can call me LadyC as per the boarding pass.

I get the reverse of this. Marge kept her surname but alphabetically it occurs earlier than mine, which means our luggage is always tagged with her name and, for some reason, I am almost always referred to on-board as "Mr {Marge's-Surname}". I'm fine with it, because I like a bit of anonymity. :)

In hotels though it sounds nicer if you're referred to by the surname, not first name.

It is the same for the gentleman, he does get referred to as Mr LadyC at hotels as the booking is done in my name.

It's ok to be called by first name as long as its "Mr John " or "Miss Jane" or the like ... :-).

Miss Jane? That makes me think of Mr Squiggle! Sorry, back to the topic......

I don't mind informality but I do expect to be addressed in a courteous manner, especially if I'm a paying customer. And if you want to see steam coming out of my ears and cop a spray try "dissing" my wife like one smug Middle Eastern (RJ) desk jockey did in Amman when he tried to block her using the lift to the J lounge.

"Mr Bouvier"

Thats strange, they look at your boarding pass or manifest and get it totally wrong? Indeed the use of Mrs is a total assumption on their part.

Now,now. As long as my grandpeople keep referring to me as grandperson I will be happy.:p:p;):lol:

A brilliant example of the utter failure of the anti-PC brigade. You lot just don't get it, do you? I guess that is to be expected from those who grew up in another era. I would have thought the 3Rs included that Children/child and Parent are all gender neutral. Perhaps your post needs to head off to the grammar thread for that contorted sentence. Most people not grinding an axe would use the following.

"As long as my grandchildren keep referring to me as a grandparent." Of course, since you are a male grandfather is also perfectly PC.

Obviously medhead doesn't this give you an idea as to what I was thinking-
:p:p;):cool::lol:

You just are on a totally different wavelength to me aren't you.

And of course for those who consider guys unacceptable this from the Cambridge dictionary-
guys B1 [plural] mainly US › used to address a group of people of either sex: Come on, you guys, let's go.

I doesn't like "youse" or when a person is talking to me they us "we", for example how are we today?

Another peeve is when somebody doesn't even address me, for example they just say hello, goodbye, how are you? etc.
I do have a name, please use it. And the name I prefer is Buzz, even the grandkids call me Buzz, not that the 2yo speaks that well just yet.

It seems pretty clear that you were mocking the PC concept. I got that wrong did I?
