...when you know the NATO phonetic alphabet, and learned it from actual regular use?

If we had just done CMB, I would have thought "I can do without ever experiencing this place again" as it was just another coughpy, big city. The jewel of Sri Lanka is out of the city. We're looking forward to going back, but CMB will be a place to depart from and that's it. We'll fly in and head straight from the airport to our first destination....which won't be CMB. The airport BTW, is about an hour from the city, so there is nothing to stop us heading to other spots in a relatively short stay.

You get really annoyed when airline res people read back pnrs etc and don't use the proper phonetic alphabet.
Such violations include "T" for Tommy, "N" for Nancy, "M" for mother etc etc.
I will forgive any Confederate or other Southern folk who don't like "Y" for Yankee.
As for the rest it's not Wheel of Fortune so time to get with the program!
You can actually here the relief on the phone with SQ/KF call ctr staff when you quote Bkg Ref Nos using Phonetic Alphabet.Do the airline res folk prefer customers to use phonetics when reading out their PNR?.
