Just read the conditions for this double SC promo and it is just great NOT - I clicked on a 50% SC offer 2 days ago and this stupid action on my part makes me ineligible!!
I should have left registering for the offer to the last minute.
Oh well, you live and learn from your mistakes I guess :(

that previous offer stipulation has now been removed :D

not with trans tasman tickets (and others). QF codeshares on EK will almost certainly NOT be eligible for the DSC offer.

As for doing MEL-SYD-AKL or similar, you may find a TC who is able to ticket this at a decent fare, or try QF "multi city" tool

Best to earn most would be grabbing a trans Au flight east to west or vv.
160 QF SC in J, but not cheap.
Cheapest would be ADL - MEL or vv, there is the J sale on now.
Let's move this to the other thread.
I should have noticed.

(Answering here since it includes some actual calculations on value which I feel is appropriate to this thread)

And for under half the price do MEL-SYD-OOL r/t in J for 320 SC.

really AP you need to think this through more.

yes the ADL-MEL or MEL-TSV J sale helps, but it's for a pretty limited period (May 23-30June) and even then say ADL-MEL (v.v.) for ~$938 r/t gets 160 SC or $5.86/SC.

MEL-SYD-OOL r/t can be had for around $1358 for 320 SC or $4.24/SC.

other runs like SYD-xBNE-DRW/CNS in Y and can also be attractive too.

Also consider SYD-xMEL-CNS in J if you're short on time and has cash to spare (going via BNE in J seems to cost a few dollars more, for the same SC). Works out to be about $4.71/SC. Doesn't quite hold a candle to SYD-xBNE-CNS in flex Y but it gets you 400 SC in 1 day. I'm assuming yohy?! is starting in SYD?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

MEL-SYD-OOL r/t can be had for around $1358 for 320 SC or $4.24/SC.
MEL-BNE-CNS r/t can be had for a little over $2,100 for 480 SC. A little more expensive per SC but if you need that much and want to get them in a hurry.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Looking to get maximum value out of a SC run in J using the double status credits offer:

Say I was to book for 7 May

MEL - BNE QF612

BNE - CNS QF784

CNS - BNE QF655

BNE - MEL QF639

The flight into CNS would arrive at 4:25pm and the flight out of CNS would leave at 5:10pm. Is this running it a bit close? Would I be likely to miss the flight if my plane ran late (or would they use the same plane for the return flight to BNE) and if I did miss a connection due to a flight running late what would happen?

I would just take carry-on.

Also I already have a trip booked

SYD - MEL - SFO,

How much would I earn for SYD - MEL in B and MEL - SFO in T with normal SC earn. Need to know how much I need to get via a status run.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

ADL-CGK (Jakarta) can be had for approx $2150 in J via Syd. SC earn of 320*2 = 640, netting $3.35/SC. I just dislike Jakarta too much to spend that much to retain Platinum!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Hi all, a little help if possible please.

SC reset at end of MAY16.

Currently WP and at this stage, 120SC's short of re-qualifying.

It will be my 3rd year as WP, but don't really want to risk a potential comp. I need to get to the magic 1,200 number myself.

Looking at a SC run from either BNE or OOL.

Like all of us, I would like to do it as cheaply as possible. If it helps, I currently have a $235 voucher to use for flights too.

Anyone have any ideas? Can be done over 1 or 2 days....

Double status credits offer received in email this morning for me (WP) and wife (NB)

QF operated flights and codeshare AA transpac only

Buy 28April - 4 May 2016
Fly 28 April -16 April 2017

Should make any SR a lot easier

I think you can still use the bonus SC offer if you don't want to risk a potential comp so long as you get the required SCs to retain QP through standard SCs before any bonus SCs are added on. Bonus SCs could still help you get to LTG quicker.

Depending on how much you want to mess about with short sectors (I'd rather do something more useful), I'd be tempted to do something like:

BNE-CHC (via Syd - F Lounge!)
CHC-BNE

Total ~$667 (round up to avoid things) for 140 SC, booking 'Saver' fare, works out to be 4.8$/SC, can have a night or two across the ditch and a few hours in the FLounge on the way over. Not possible to return in one day, so accommodation would have to be added.

OOL - ADL return flex in one direction, red-e-deal in the other Approx. $650 for 60SC (x2 =120SC). Or flex both ways for about $850 for 80SC (x2 = 160SC) earn. Relatively short day trip.

Could be cheaper with aquire discount.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

On the US domestic again, I know I can go to PTY from west coast at a great $/SC. But I dont want to go to the Caribbean, and prefer to stay on US mainland.

I'm starting from LAS, and need to return to LAX, so both pretty good starting and ending points.

Looking for about 500 SC's. Right now I'm looking thru ORD/BOS to MIA, but can't really get a good deal. USD$1K would be a good target price, all in First / A class fares. Any advice, or is this a pipe dream?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Hi All...I need 420 sc's to retain gold by the end October and have no travel plans prior to that date. I Have the double offer registered so can anyone suggest a 210 SC run for about $1K...or am I dreaming ?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

DGMS

There is a benefit living in MEL

MEL-SYD-CHC

Economy flex in one direction and saver in the other: 105SC for $1037. DSC makes it 210SC

Stay overnight

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Thanks but looking for 210 to make it double to 420 sc's....don't think its going to be possible

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

DGMS My bad.

For something like this you need to be in the USA.

$4.8 per status credit before DSC offer ($1000 for 210SC) is impossible here in OZ. A lot easier in the US.

cheapest in OZ is around $10 per SC to get the 210 then apply DSC. (sometimes $7 if you manage a deep discount)

So the big question.
Is it worth it spending thousands to get to a particular tier status? Only you can answer that.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

I thought that would be the case, thanks for answering so promptly, and its not worth spending those sort of $$ at this stage. I will be in Hawaii in November and might try a PTY or SJU run from there ...at that stage though will need 700 Sc's or thereabouts to requalify from Silver to Gold.
