This time last year we announced that Australian Fashion Designer, Martin Grant will be designing a new look for Qantas Pilots.

It’s now time to celebrate flight, fashion and future by officially unveiling the uniform at an event to be held in Sydney on Friday 29 April 2016 from 10.30am-12pm.

Qantas Chief Pilot, Captain Richard Tobiano, said while pilots are often unseen in their “office”, they take great pride in wearing their uniform and also place a great emphasis on comfort.

“The current uniform has served us well but after wearing the same thing every day for more than 10 years, we’re ready for a change. Given we spend up to 16 hours at a time on an aircraft, there’s a big focus on comfort and durability as well as reflecting our professionalism,” said Captain Tobiano.

Heavens! If they've worn the same rags for 10 years, they well and truly deserve a change!

Assuming this is just a launch event for the new uniform, and not the actual rollout, perhaps a uniform example could be sent to the Founders Museum ahead of schedule so we can see it in person when we arrive? However, if it is the rollout, I'll make sure we say hello to the pilots before getting off the plane!
