Hi all

SYD-HKG-ZRH return CX

About to pull the trigger on the above itinerary

1 ticket will be via QF classic award = QF ticket number(child)
1 ticket will be via CX website = CX ticket number. (adult)

QF not selling the CX revenue ticket probably due to its agreement with EK funneling all revenue seats to European destinations via DXB.

In this scenario although CX be able to see both tickets in their system, in case of problems would I have to deal with QF and CX or just CX only?

QF and CX as the first ticket will be on 081 ticket stock. Depending on the age of the child you might also have an issue with them being a minor and not being on the same PNR as the adult.

QF will only sell you QF fares or fares where plating is permitted on QF ticket stock (oneworld fares, certain fares with other carriers, eg. some JL fares). This is normal with the vast majority of airlines. Even a TA wouldn't be able to sell you a CX fare on QF ticket stock.

Thanks Madrooster,

I thought as much. This will go OK if nothing goes wrong. The layover in HKG will be ~7 hours.

Child wont be an issue as he is above mandatory maximum QF kids club age of 12

Its the IIROPS scenario that is the issue for me before it becomes THE issue.

It's probably better to just state said child as an adult then. For airline ticketing purposes they are an adult and it only confuses all involved if you state otherwise.

Yes good point except that international flights require a date of birth so they may pick up on it in their systems.
