I am doing CX138 and CX251 next month, 3 class and 4 class 777's
Have taken 11k for both flights as I think will be very private

for the three class 777, 11K is probably the second worst seat in the house (that honour goes to 11G). 11K is far from private with a huge amount of foot traffic and activity in the galley.

Agree with Mel_Traveller. Avoid bulkheads where possible. Did 2 in the last week and didn't enjoy either.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunate all but the last row of J is now occupied, oh well at least the 4 class 11K should be quiet

Obviously should not read Aus Bus Traveller, they said 11A/K on both versions

i honestly don't even know if aus bus traveller flies to make those recommendations!! their most recent review of the a330 misses the mark. The most glaring example is that they say the rear rows of the front cabin should be avoided because they are close to the galley... which is true... except that they second galley is never used because it has no ovens. So those last rows are actually pretty quiet and private.

While probably not something passengers should be concerned with, the other issue is that there is no crew rest on the a330. For longer flights the second cabin is sometimes closed off exclusively for crew if passenger numbers allow. If you happen to have selected a 'prime seat' in that second cabin, you could find yourself in a less desirable seat in the main cabin.

Yes I agree, they do miss the mark. As a side point ABT heavily censor the comments as well. I still look at it, but rely on AFF far more, as I find it more accurate. As to CX Y+, we alway ask for the bulkhead. We find it much better, as the recline on the seat in front, reduces your space considerably.

These couple of pictures courtesy of airliners .net show you the proximity of 11K to the galley.

All traffic to/from the galley for the G/K seats will pass by 11K. On the opposite side you have pax using the forward WC. 11D/G are worse because they kinda face directly in to the galley/WC area, and have no window.

Plus you're staring at a wall. I'm not sure why AusBt recommends those seats.

I'm not convinced, but this is what AusBT actually says.

"11D 11G: if you're travelling with a colleague (and you want to talk during the flight), you'll want a centre pair. These are among our favourites for being able to carry out a decent conversation in the air since they're so far forward and away from the engines."

Thanks again
I will keep looking in case someone cancels or changes their booking but at this stage only 11G, 19K and 21A available on CX MYB, although EF is saying row 23 is blocked

on CX840 to JFK rows 11 and 12 not available but plenty to choose from rows 16 to 25. At the moment in 19A

appreciate your thoughts on seats as this is first time on a CX 777 for me

Anywhere rows 19-23 should be fine (21 supposedly has a misaligned window).

Just flown CX101 yesterday on their 777. The J seats are definitely roomier than the A330. Loved it.

We had 20D/G/21A, and I seated on 21A. Great seats as we need the bassinet even though my little one prefered to stay with me.

21A has a very private suite feel and I loved it!

Also row 20-23 has a small cabin feel which also helps.

I would definitely pick 21A again next time I fly CX on their 77G configs.

Currently have 11D and 11A allocated for SFO-HKG on the three class 77W reading your comments best to select seats further back?

If you want to avoid significant foot traffic and galley/WC noise - mid cabin is a good option.

If it's a couple travelling together, I'd go for two windows.

This! We did the two windows and it was great. A guy actually asked if we wanted to swap to be across the aisle from each other but having the Windows on a day flight makes for a beautiful flight.

Traveling with my son so windows will be fine especially as it is a daytime departure, I have selected seats 15 and 16A.
