I'm nearly 34 but this month is the first time I have left Australia. I hadn't left WA until the Army Reserve sent me east for basic training followed by a few training trips after that and a couple of holidays to Qld.

Now I realise I shouldn't have waited so long and have started planning the next trip (with the kids this time), though I am basically restricted to school holidays as my wife works at a school. I'm not sure how I found this site but it looks like I have a lot of reading to do.

There is a great deal of valuable information here whitty, but well worth the effort of reading. Welcome to the crazy world of AFF.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Rather than starting a new thread can anyone tell me if there is any chance of getting cheap flights during school holidays or should I just decide where I want to go and make the booking? Domestic or shorter international destinations that aren't Bali. I don't mind the kids missing school but my wife doesn't think she should be asking for leave without pay too often (no long service for a few years yet).

Another warm welcome whitty.
