SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I finally call and after explaining the error, I'm told they still won't be able to honour the 15% discount. WTF?

I'm then told I have to email "proof" of the error and call back.
Absolutely WRONG - and never accept that response - ask for a Manager - that is just WRONG.

Have you had any luck with your nurturing CE?
Maybe but still early days - but your problem today should never need intervention - dozens of times I have had agent offer me the 15% discount discount as soon as I have mentioned web issues without me even mentioning said 15% - you just got the wrong agent but it is so out of character for any SQ/KF agent. You did call SIN call Ctr didn't you?

Yep, certainly did. Will stop screenshotting then and if I'm told that again, will escalate to supervisor.

Gotta say, there's some serious VA-type behaviour going on on their website at the moment. Incredibly frustrating, particularly when it's hard to know what's an availability issue and what's a website tech issue.

Bless my parents – I had it all planned and ready to book CBR-IST return (2× O/W), but they've decided they want to tack on a trip to the US which has thrown me all out.

Are there reports of the mobile site getting better availability too?

Gday

I can confirm that(most of the time) the app(andriod for me) has different availability. Not necessarily better, it all depends on your circumstances.

Pele.

Same here. Sometimes I can't see any flights available on the web but my iOS app will show available award flights. My most recent search for MEL-BKK for end of March shows no award flight available while there are and they appeared on iOS app. What I did notice is that website seems to show flights with better planes e.g. A380 and 777-300ER but they don't have any award seat available. However, on the same day with different flight on say 777-300 with different schedule, there is award seat available -- these won't be shown on the web but they do appear on iOS app.

With the transfer of a few extra VA points to SQ (thanks to a kind relative) I am ready to push the button on a trip to EU

I am happy to start in MEL (B777), AKL (A380) or SYD (B777 or A380) and would like to end up in FRA, but CDG or LHR will do.

I would like to try F in both the A380 and B777, and I would prefer daytime flights to maximise the experience.

The SIN-FRA flights for the date range I am happy with are all waitlisted.

Now if I leave from AKL it will be on an A380, so CDG is out as it too is an A380. But AKL-SIN is the longest A/NZ-SIN flight for the benefit of sampling the product. :)

That leaves me with LHR. I am also looking to stretch the time in SIN without a formal stopover.

So SQ286 AKL-SIN 1330-1905 followed by SQ318 SIN-LHR 1250-1900 seems to be the go.

Have I missed anything?

Have you thought about ZRH for the A380?

I have just booked 2 F/J ZRH-SIN-PER for a Christmas New Year trip and the availability was pretty good considering the time of year.

I looked at FRA but likewise couldn't find anything that wasn't waitlisted.

Heading to Europe PER-SIN-MLE on SQ using VA transferred to KF and MLE-AUH on EY using AA Miles.

Just an idea – why don't you swap it so that your longer flight (i.e. SIN-Europe) is on an A380, and your shorter flight (Australia-SIN) is on the 777. More space on the longer leg, because that's totally going to be an issue :D

Both are great products though (and honestly I'm fine with the 777 suite). You'll have a blast!

Thanks SponsorSFC, availability looks pretty good.

So, supplementary question: Should I take an A380 from SIN (ZRH or CDG) which would be the best 777 flight to aim for? I can leave from either MEL or SYD.

Absolutely if you can swing it that way - you need to try the bed in R JT.

And getting that 17hr in SIN clever also as you can get to experience the SIN F check-in procedure - not to be missed - also the only port where your TPR Invitation will be filled out with a GOLD pen!

You know you can pm me re waitlists and I will get someone to look at it for you.

The check-in is worth it all on its own! So cool.

By the time you've finished paying for you taxi, your bags (if you were checking them in from SIN) will have already been unloaded and practically checked through, with BP and TPR invite in hand. Entire process taking, like, 30 seconds. Then, private immigration checkpoint. Such a pleasure.

I'm flying in Jan 2017 HKG-SIN-SYD on suites - I feel a bit bummed that I'm missing out because I don't get to experience the Changi SIN F check-in! But I'm sure the Krug will make it all better ;)

It's perfectly ok! No need to put yourself through an extra check-in just for the sake of it. It's... ummm... a check-in :)

The whole idea of a separate check-in is to save you time. It seems counter intuitive to go out of your way (and spend more time) to experience it.

SQ863//SQ221, so exactly 2.5 hours in Changi. Was planning to make the most of that time in TPR, but open to suggestions of those more experienced! (its my first time!)
I wouldn't try it with 2.5hrs but you really need to experience it at some point in time if you can - yes it's a check-in - but it's a very special check-in.
