What do you like most about Qantas?

I really think the cabin crew have been amazing the last few years. Maybe they underwent a "re-education" process, maybe they weeded out the unruly ones or maybe Qantas was just not a nice place to work for a while there because I sure feel like I am treated much better than I used to be.

On board service.
Premium call centre.
F lounges.
OneWorld privileges.

That pretty much nails it for me too!

Onboard service has improved immensely over the last 2 years, including long-haul B747/A330 crews.

Jet-connect & the A380 crews are consistently bubbly & charismatic.

Easier to get SC if I want to travel J.
Oppostition ie NZ on some flights don't have J, Works Deluxe only earns 15 VA SC trans Tasman.
NZ also loves to swap wide bodied planes with J to 320s so no J class.
QF P+P earns SC you pay at top rates, unlike VA where P+P is a no SC earn reward in most cases.

Nice wedging in of your pet topics into a thread where, once again, they have no relevance!

huh?

One could argue that VA has lower status thresholds for status, but this isn't a VA love fest :p

Back to QF

- Crews are usually VERY good. I've only come across a few surly/poor examples (bad days) in several hundred flights over the past few years
- obviously I get a bit better recognition as a P1, but in reality I find most passengers get treated pretty much the same on board which I like to see (and given the first comment, that means good flights for everyone)
- As others have said F lounges - MEL/SYD/LAX and the newer "combined" lounges at SIN/HKG and PER Dom J.
- The wine selection on dom has actually been better with more variety since the rockpool wine crew took over (surpisingly!)
- Some of the catering has also been really good. I could do without more toasted turkey sangas on dom J and the cheese box but some of the mains have been outstanding (had a fantastic tenderloin and roasted veg on SYD-MEL a few weeks ago for dinner) and even the boxes in Y have been a real improvement (but fair to say I've had limited exposure to these, luckily)
- While QFF awards are poor value for most things (as discussed elsewhere) things like upgrades offer real value in many instances to me
- I loved that I could use my P1 status (I know applies to very few) to have a good shot to upgrade my NB sister for MEL-LAX to J as a surprise
- I've almost forgotten the "cricket" safety video :D

Inconsistency is still a problem in various areas, but most often QF get it pretty right, are usually very punctual and have far better protection and support for customers (that I have seen) when things go awry (I can count 2 cancels over the past 5+ years, and one of those was a return to gate with an issue found during taxi).

I wasn't so sure as I have not flown enough in J overseas. But the experiences in States and Europe I concur !
I actually thought domestic J on Turkish Air would give it a pretty good run for its money. Food was much better and the fresh fruit juices served as pre takeoff drinks were divine. This was last year - FAs were great as well - huge contrast to the slack staff we had in 2009!

However this is about Qantas :). So things I like are the staff - doesn't matter whether on the ground, on the phone or in the air, I really like Qantas staff. I am getting pretty ho hum about most other things with Qantas, but the lovely staff keep me flying with them (although not exclusively any more).

They make me feel safe.
They've never lost my baggage (knock on wood).
When a flight gets changed or cancelled, I feel they do everything practical to make it right.
Staff in general are great (QCCA or whatever they are is an exception)
They've never held me and a plane full of passengers against our will for almost an hour due to "vandalism" in 45 degree heat in rural WA on grand final day while waiting for police.
Not made to feel inferior when using their LCC.
Good variety of products - W class is great.
They've never tried to charge me $4 for a cup of water when on the ground in 40+ degree heat because the APU is broken and pushback is delayed for 45min.

Yes some of those are highly specific! Let's just say I've had a terrible run with another airline.

As somebody who is used to WA's 45C heat, I don't travel anywhere without a bottle of water. Including air travel on both the airlines who serve regional WA.

The staff. Every time I fly I feel the need to give the crew a glowing report. I can't recall a flight where I've had a bad experience with the crew.

And I also love that Red Roo is part of our community and goes above and beyond to help us.

Here's my preliminary list

- Seriously feels like I am home when I board a Qanras aircraft. I have only ever returned from New Zealand on Virgin but doesn't feel the same
- Good QFF point earning opportunities for low to average spenders
- Good service recovery when things go wrong (and yes some of the stories on AFF are not good)
- Good customer service
- Oneworld awards although fuel surcharges a little high
- Good domestic coverage
- Very good domestic lounges

Yes to all the above. Love the thread.
It's why im a QF fanboy. So many people think im crazy for always preferencing QF all the time.

I like that QF has direct CBR <> PER flights. OK, it might only be one a day, but that's one more than VA.

(Pity about CBR <> OOL, though. VA wins that one.)

The majority of the QF staff, both ground and in-flight are good value, ready for a laugh or a chat.

There friendliness makes the difference especially compared to the clinical staff on Asia airlines.

If you flew to PER via ADL or SYD you would get more SCs (and maybe even points depending on who pays the fare) and might even get to SG.

And if you fly via SYD or MEL you might score an A330 instead of a B737.

-I feel safer on a QF bird.
-The opportunity to use points for possible upgrades online & at gate.
-Meals included in price of domestic ticket. (Not in NthA)

- As mentioned by others, the feeling of "home" when you hop on a QF international flight. IMO Especially true when hopping on LAX, and they open with "welcome to qantas.... etc", ah, home

- It just feels safer on QF!

- Compared to VA and its 'partners', QF has a 'real' alliance and you cant beat that when you fly overseas

- Red Roo has helped me via the forum. 10 points for proactive service there!
