In contrast to the thread What are your pet annoyances on Qantas?

Qantas doesn't always get it wrong - so what do you like most about Qantas?

I'll kick it off...

- Member portal is significantly better than almost every other FFP.
- On board service, when they get it right - it's exceptional & world leading 10/10.

- Ability to book award 353 days in advance.
- Ability to cancel award for just 5,000 points where something better inevitably comes along.
- Ability to book EK for the same number of points as QF.
- Better than Virgin at dealing with irregular ops domestically.

On board service. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of flights I have taken with QF and received poor service.

Service to regional Australia. Sure, that's not necessarily because of business decisions they've taken in recent times, but as someone who has done more flights on QantasLink than every other airline put together, I appreciate it.

(And to turn this into a minor VA rant: QF doesn't have a stupid announcement at the end of every flight about joining their FFP. (Does VA still do that? I wouldn't know, I barely fly with them at all...))

Domestic J doesn't get much better anywhere in the world.

I wasn't so sure as I have not flown enough in J overseas. But the experiences in States and Europe I concur !

On board service.
Premium call centre.
F lounges.
OneWorld privileges.

I would say that compared to the 4 other airlines I fly the most (BA, AA, AC and EK) QF is the best at customer service (volcanic ash, no show, broken suitcases), QF has always helped me on the phone or at the airport counter to fix any issue.

On a more subjective note, since most of my flying is international long haul, it's always great to step in a QF plane and feel like I'm almost home  (I guess QF is well aware of that since it's at the core of their advertisement campaign:mrgreen:)

Oh yeah there is nothing like getting back on a Qantas flight and immediately feeling home already. They had a super ad in the arrivals corridor I remember - we'd taken my Dad, a crusty old Pom, back to England for the first time since emigrating 40 years ago, and when we landed he said - and it was the first time I'd ever heard him say anything remotely like it - this is the best country in the world. Just as we were walking past the ad which was 'Isn't it great to be back home'. You only have to travel within the US to appreciate what great crew QF has.....

While onboard service can be inconsistent, at least Qantas staff are not totally indifferent to the Y passenger on each and every flight.

Flounges in SYD and MEL!!
Baggage always arriving on the same plane.
Guaranteed seat (no overbooking).
CBR domestic J lounge.

(The latter 3 also apply to Virgin but contrast with US airlines).

Also "I still call Australia home" on a flight back.

They make me feel safe.
They've never lost my baggage (knock on wood).
When a flight gets changed or cancelled, I feel they do everything practical to make it right.
Staff in general are great (QCCA or whatever they are is an exception)
They've never held me and a plane full of passengers against our will for almost an hour due to "vandalism" in 45 degree heat in rural WA on grand final day while waiting for police.
Not made to feel inferior when using their LCC.
Good variety of products - W class is great.
They've never tried to charge me $4 for a cup of water when on the ground in 40+ degree heat because the APU is broken and pushback is delayed for 45min.

Yes some of those are highly specific! Let's just say I've had a terrible run with another airline.

Shame Red Roo's not here to feel the love :)

And with all of the other stuff mentioned this is also a biggie. The ongoing personal engagement Red Roo and the QF marketing team has with the forum and its members often going out of their way to resolve problems.

Which for some reason some members on here will still bag RR out on here...

There's a certain elegance and sophistication to QF that VA will never reach. When they're good they're very good.
