Emirates Seat upgrade First timer!!

Flying Emirates for the first time.EK405 Melbourne-Singapore and EK440 Dubi -Adelaide.I have joined Emirates Skywards with all my contact info.If business seats are available will I get a upgrade auction option like Malaysia Airlines and how much would I expect to pay per leg??

PS I am using other airlines in between.And as I dont have Skywards points will need a cash upgrade?

Emirates don't offer upgrade auctions, however do sometimes email/phone with upgrade offers before flights, or offer paid upgrades at the airport.... But its a set cost not bid what you want, and not available or offered on all flights or to every passenger.

I will hope for a paid upgrad at the airport.I always travel mid week for best chance of spare seats
