Not me, but who?

Golly, I have no idea!

Elliott says some travelers have become like elitist, club-hopping Hollywood starlets who make frequent use of the question, “Do you know who I am?!?”

ps: I am not a 'starlet'

“There is a class of entitled travelers that don’t just believe that they deserve to be treated better than the rest of us; they believe that they are better than the rest of us,” says Christopher Elliott,

Mr Elliott has long ranted against loyalty programmes and their benefits. This is a long running campaign of his and he regularly writes this drivel with lots of hyperbole and supposed examples of egregious behaviour by said pax.

Just wait a month and he'll have another one floating about on the internet.

"Accruing more miles than you could ever need"?????

Unless you're a Chinese tycoon buying $180 million works of art on credit card this is not possible.

Where would "journo's" be today without Istock as their sole source of photos or failing that using photos from the airlines website?

I agree that it is entertaining watching AA Exex Plats or their equivalent waiting for their op-ups or their eVIP freebie upgrades to clear at the gate.

More than one AFFer has seen such people, who having been successful with their last minute upgrade then go onboard and try to swap their back row centre aisle seats for a forward window with the occupants who have booked into F months ago carefully selected their preferred seats then.

Pfft more rampant DYKWIAphobia. Totally unacceptable in this modern age.

:p

There's a grain of truth about this on AFF but it's kept in check some/most of the time.

Interesting point he is trying to make.

Some people do feel entitled. Some people feel rules do not apply to them.

These people are everywhere. They are not a by-product of airline status.

“One flight attendant said to me, ‘I fully expect my airline to tell me to shine the shoes of these elites,’"

I think this is a great idea! Emirates could provide the service using their shower attendants.

With airlines coddling its premium passengers more than ever before — with luxury car rides from the terminal to the airplane (Delta ferries some elite customers in Porsches, American Airlines uses Cadillacs, and United uses Mercedes), red carpets, bigger seats, upgraded meals, and in some cases, showers

OMFG NOT SHOWERS! Oh the humanity.

Supposed examples? I would say from that they are actual examples. There is some appalling behaviour from some eliate that go and have a sooky tantrum when they don't get something they want (mind you, it is not limited to platinums, I have witnesses silver and bronze members having tantrums when turned away from a lounge....)

So it's not hyperbole to have showers, shock horror, as the ultimate in excess benefit for these tantruming elites? The example of one passenger demanding another passenger move to economy sounded pretty supposed to me.

He really does seem intent on trying to start a class war. Personally I think he's a Grade A idiot since someone like myself with a tiny income is able to book long haul F.

Do you want to be?? :p
