Too often this place is an outlet for complaining about Qantas staff (some warranted, a lot not).

Anyway I've just left the very good new J lounge and for the first time have felt compelled to comment here about a member of Qantas staff.

Daniel, behind the bar in the J lounge is here walking out coughtails, getting food for people in their seats all over the place.Individually greeting and farewelling travellers, running out from the bar to shake their hand, asking their name and wishing them a safe trip and thanking them for visiting / flying Qantas. Bringing out coffees and drinks to where they are seated.

He is clearly very genuinely interested in looking after his guests.

Anyway I never write about this stuff but for the first time in a long time I've felt very welcomed in a QFF lounge and others In there were as well as they were all talking about how good he was on the way to the gate.

So to Daniel on the floor in the PER J lounge today, good on you for doing a stellar job. Very refreshing and appreciated, and I hope Red Roo / Qantas recognize and reward that kind of service as it is very much appreciated by QFF members!!

I was there early on Wednesday and the service was really good in this newish lounge. Have had no issues in the four times I have been there since the opening.
Come on over Jessica Tam.

Been in the new PER J lounge 6 times and each was excellent. Kudos to Qantas and their people working in the lounge.

Yep , me too. Nothing but good things to say about it, the staff have been terrific. And have never been hit with the Perth 1 drink only thing in there.
The pizzas are great too!!!
Streets ahead of the pigpit J lounge in Brisbane, I actually prefer to go in the normal side there, the staff are good there though.
A very good lounge, up there with Sydney J and in some ways better.

And while we're on this, MELi J lounge, Richard there sounds almost exactly the same. He is incredible

The only J lounge issue I have had was when Melbourne had a heatwave and the air conditioning battled. I think it has been quite ok in recent months.

Good to hear positive comments!

BTW I'm flying into PER in early Jan in J (flying out with VA) and I'm curious to know, would I be allowed to check out the new lounge? I heard it's great and am keen to check it out for myself.

I think I will have to head west to try out the new lounge.

I was recently musing the same thing to JohnM.

Trouble is, I'm awash with Virgin points and are preserving my QFF ones.

Hmm ... new PER Virgin lounge too.

Fly MEL-PER-MEL on VA, then PER-KAL-PER on QF?

Totally agree, on my 3 visits there so far the staff have been nothing short of exemplary. Last weekend the lady behind the front wine bar brought around glasses of sparkling to my seat while enjoying the very good pizza, something which I have never experienced in BNE/SYD/MEL. Hope that this is going to be a permanent fixture and not just an "introductory special"!

I agree with all the comments posted so far, it really is a pleasure to be there.

I might even dare say that it is better than the Singapore lounge.

Daniel the barman, knows his trade and is a very pleasant person, hope I haven't put the mozz on him.

Unfortunately not. Your "next flight" dictates access when in J.

Yet to visit the Perth J lounge but I agree the staff and service in the other J lounges - CBR, SYD, MEL and BNE - are terrific.

Thanks OP for the detailed post. Nice to read good stories - and I do hope it gets back to the team and individuals.

Having been in both numerous times, there is no way on earth that the PER Dom J lounge comes anywhere near the QF SIN lounge. I know that the food and beverage options/quality have decreased significantly since the SIN J lounge opened, but it still has a long way to drop to get down to pizza bar level.

I was in the Sydney J Lounge yesterday morning and then ventured next door to the Qantas club. The space in the Qantas club seemed much more appealing. It has new furniture and a really nice bar area. I had not been in there for some time and the difference to what it used to be was much improved. The bathrooms in the J lounge had rusting fittings, broken tiles and trim missing from a door. I had a quick look at the food and there seemed little difference. Hot food in the J lounge was sausages, scrambled eggs and baked beans. There appeared to be no special offering for breakfast. I will be interested to see how the Perth lounge lines up against it. For my part the only difference between the j lounges in Sydney and melbourne are that there are less people in there. At quit times the Qantas clubs are spacious and more appealing.
