How do you perceive JQ's 10 November 2015 move to T4 in MEL?

No lounges as yet.I guess Rex may have one when they move checkin to T4 in March.
To an earlier question I went through the T3 security that previously accessed ZL etc and ~ 3 VA gates and into T4 so they are connected but T3 has 2 security points.
I used the free airport wifi at the Rex gate.Only a couple of power points but I snagged one.

Sorry for the thread necro, but are there airside transfers between T3 and T4? I'm coming into MEL on ZL and am considering connecting with VA instead of QF if I don't have to clear security again. Travelling with carry on only so interline access doesn't bother me.

Damn - thanks for the info.

...wait, does that mean T3 and T4 are actually connected airside? If not, how does one clear T3 security and end up in T4?

To walk between T3 and T4 you can either leave T3 and then walk along a passageway past the VA lounge that as well as leading to the 'second Ansett wing' built around 1990, now leads (through a security checkpoint) to the T4 terminal or you can go outside into the fresh air and enter T4 from the roadway. Hard perhaps to visualise so I hope that my explanation makes sense.

You have explained it better than me.In essence part of the old T3 has been incorporated in T4.3 VA gates are now really in T4 but still accessed as they were along with ZL and TT.

Thanks - my concern is that I'm likely to book flights with very short connections (well under MCT) and wanted to see if choosing VA over QF when connecting from ZL would provide a time advantage by eliminating a second security screening at MEL. As the answer to that is "no", it means that QF will retain my business as they have an expedited security screening line that I can use. I appreciate the detailed response!

JQ travellers will benefit from the new bus interchange but QF travellers had better prepare for more shoe leather:
Airport buses - Public Transport Victoria

This is interesting: the airport website seems to suggest that both the new and existing stops will be used.

The public bus stop at Melbourne Airport is located at Terminal 1. Public buses will also operate from the transport hub in Terminal 4 when it opens later this year.

From ptv:
"A new undercover bus interchange will open from 30 November 2015, and will be located at domestic Terminal Four (T4). The existing bus interchange located at Terminal 1 (T1) will no longer be in operation.

The new T4 bus interchange provides direct access to Tiger Airways, Jetstar and Regional Express services, with all other airlines departing from T1, T2 and T3.

The T4 bus interchange is located approximately 10 minutes’ walk from T1, so customers are reminded to plan ahead and consider additional travel time to access T1, T2 and T3.

SkyBus, the 24-hour airport shuttle service, will continue to stop at T1 and T3.

For more information about the new Terminal Four, visit t4you.com.au"

I think that you can assume that Skybus will also stop at T4 and that is what I've been told.
