How do you perceive JQ's 10 November 2015 move to T4 in MEL?

Time to walk off the QP nibbles and drinks. ;)

Lining up with the general public through security for the JQ flight will be a pain if there is no priority lane.

I'd be using the security in the VA terminal next to the little secret exit of the VA lounge, there's no priority line but because VA only use 2 or so gates in T4 theres never a line or wait.

Don't you have to have a VA boarding pass?

No, you don't. But is there access from that pier to T4?

I'll be honest that when I used the terminal I made a direct line to the VA gate, however the VA security checkpoint goes straight into the centre of the terminal where the stores and eateries are so I would assume the other gates are accessible from there.

Just walk past the Sunglass Hut and lounge and keep walking until you hit the security.

The Jury (in my case anyway) is still out, until I use this new Terminal.

Although without the use of a Lounge, certainly makes JQ a lot less appealing ex MEL.

Oh, I was assuming that you were accessing the VA lounge to use the priority exit.

I get it. My mistake.

My fault, mention of the lounge lead to that. I just meant that there is a little exit only door for lounge PAX using the T4 gates which exits the lounge outside the T4 security

Well aware it's LCC. A $400 banner or sign advising that a particular lane is for particular people wouldn't be inconsistent with LCC. "Qantas group" and all that.

Jetstar nor Tiger provide their customers with a priority lane through security. This would be up to Melbourne Airport authorities (not Jetstar) to introduce, as Melbourne Airport has complete control over it all.

i don't think there should be!! even if qantas chooses to pay for it, why should that be added to my low cost fare? If they are going to have any sort of priority, individual passengers should have to pay for that either through a specific add-on (say $5) or as part of a premium bundle.

Agree. Happy to pay for it

Sorry for the thread necro, but are there airside transfers between T3 and T4? I'm coming into MEL on ZL and am considering connecting with VA instead of QF if I don't have to clear security again. Travelling with carry on only so interline access doesn't bother me.

Nope.

……….

Feedback from friends using the new T4 yesterday was decidedly unimpressive. Large shed, no where to sit. Check in machines didn't work and they had to use the service desk.

I remember complaining to Melbourne airport many years ago about the lack of seats in their terminals. Their answer was along the lines that seats were provided in the various eating outlets. Its seems airports join with shopping centres in providing inadequate general seating for customers. There is definitely a need for more seating in such places, and sad to see Terminal 4 being a new building lacks such provision.

Yes, it's very poor. I didn't count the seats at the start of the ground level of T4 (before the airline gates) but a quick guess is fewer than 150 seats.

Although ZL says it interlines with VA that is definitely not the case. You have to collect your bags and checkin with VA.The only difference is that if you say you are interlining with VA you cant checkin on line.

I went through T4 a week ago when travelling ZL to BWT.I thought it was quite OK.There were plenty of empty seats in the food court and at the gate.A reasonable selection of food for my lunch. Will give it another check in a month as coming in on ZL and leaving on JQ.Just means I miss out on QP access.

What about TV's, PowerPoint's and WiFi... All working and accessible?
Do they have a lounge in T4 seperate to the QF lounge in other terminal?
